Wonderful tool, however I would find a different retailer.
Marvelous, beefy, feature rich tool. Alas, no mention was made of the fact that it has been opened and resealed prior to shipping. As a consequence the package containing the belt clip was damaged and the fastener for fixing the clip to the tool was missing. Bad retailer! Shame on you.

It’s a makita
Powerful yet not cumbersome in size/weight. Works great, what you’d expect from a makita.

Powerful Mid-Torque
This thing is a beast for its size. Considered a mid-torque, this impact can compete with a lot of the high torque impacts out there. I have been able to take off nuts that I have never been able to with my air powered impact. This thing feels solid in the hand, has plenty of torque, and has a lot of cool features. Makita is always innovating and this impact is no different. Great tool.

A must have in the garage…
I have struggled with removing lawn mower blades with a wrench/long handled ratchet and a wooden block for way too long….. It zips off rusted tight bolts and nuts… keeping my blades sharp is the trick for a beautiful cut lawn…

awesome tool
I stick with Makita, because they work well and are of quality, never had one fail, need only one type of battery for several different tools. Don't need air and hose Carry this with me in case I have a flat while traveling, makes removing and installing lug nuts a lot easier, has lots of power for just about everything. Would buy again!.

Ditch the compressor
Already immersed in the Makita drills/impacts so already have batteries and chargers. This is a great addition and has plenty of ugga duggas to get those lug nuts off. Be careful not to over torque when installing lug nuts as this has plenty of power and you can easily over do it. Would recommend.

Good value
Plenty of torque & half the weight of a fullsize cordless

Excellent mid-range torque impact
I also own the bigger brother XWT08Z, which is fine for those situations where maximum torque is required. The XWT17 with the battery installed is 2/lbs less. Also not being as large, it's not so "tippy" and easier to maneuver. This tool has handled everything it has been used on for in/on automotive work. I really no longer see the need for the larger high torque impacts unless you're working on large truck/farm/tractor equipment. In fact, my XWT08Z now gathers dust. The 4 settings with the auto brake is nice. This has been all that I need. If you're going to use this on a regular basis for automotive work, the 5.0 or 6.0ah battery is advised. If not, for just casual work, the 3.0 or 4.0ah is fine. Last, the quality feel/build is obvious. I like the impact offerings from Milwaukee or Ridgid also, having used them, they're fine tools. But something about the build quality of these Makita impacts brought me back. If you're already dedicated to the Makita line, this impact will not disappoint. Oh, I agree with the other review, if there is any weak point, it is the friction ring on the Makita being used without a rubber O-ring underneath. I haven't had any issue with either of my impacts yet, but I do see where down the road it will become an issue which is why I ordered several replacement friction rings to keep on hand
