The little girl (age 2) was a bit afraid of it at first (10 minutes), but then really got into it. She spun around to match the dog's gestures. That yapping would certainly get old after a while though. The battery compartment is a bit challenging to get to and insert or remove batteries. The on/off switch is easy to get to though and you will want to turn it off at times (the yapping can get on your nerves). Warning - if you have it in the kids room at night (and it's in the 'on' position), it will begin dancing in a circle and yapping when the room light is turned on! It's still a very cute toy to give a child. The packaging says for ages 4 and up - I gave it to a 2-year old. I had ordered several packages and did not know what I was opening, or else I would have braced myself. It gave me a good laugh and it's still cute as ever.
