These things work great and are pretty easy to install. I have 2 young boys and they have a habit of not flushing. We have multiple bathrooms so it is often that I don't discover a toilet full of pee for 12+ hours. Before searching out a product like this my kids left the basement toilet linger for so long that it smelled like an outhouse. I needed something to stop me from having to clean the toilets daily, and that is where this little device came in. I initially bought one to test it out. After a few weeks of testing, the initial toilet remains perfectly clean without touching it. I just recently bought a pack of 2 more.These install pretty easily and they thankfully come with an extra hose to replace yours if needed. For some reason my hoses were extremely hard (years of slightly hard water?), too hard to actually fit on the device, so I had to replace them with the one included. They snap right on the side of the toilet and that's it. One thing to note is make sure you check the style of your toilet tank/lid. Our main level toilet (unfortunately the most used) has a lid/tank where the lid sits into the tank instead of sitting around it like 90% of toilets on the market. Because of this, the Kaboom will not fit on the tank and allow the lid to close to my liking. I knew this could be an issue, but didn't really want to uninstall the first one just to check. Otherwise, install was 5 mins tops.As to the smell, it is not overpowering at all. The blue cleaner I normally use is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than the scent this produces. I am generally sensitive to smells and I barely smell it, and even then only with the lid open. It smells like a clean hotel toilet or a little like a clean pool. I like the "clean" smell, so it doesn't bother me even a little bit, but your mileage may vary. I don't understand the reviews that said it made their entire bathroom/house smell like chemicals. Maybe they are dumping the tablets right into the tank? Follow the directions and you'll be happy.

We have hard orange water and this thing saved our toilet. Its been 6 months I believe since this has been installed and I still haven't gone through the pods they provide. It is amazing and works so well. There is no orange in the bowl anymore and the stains don't appear. We will be putting one in our other toilet in the house for sure!
