Super easy fix for KitchenAid mixer
This piece fell off my KitchenAid MixMaster and I was thrilled to find a replacement on Amazon without having to go through some long parts list based on the specific model number of my mixer. The ring arrived and seemed too snug, but I got out my trusty rubber mallet, gave it a few whacks, and the ring moved into position. I fixed my own mixer in minutes and it works perfectly. Thanks KitchenAid and thanks Amazon!

Fit good.
This ring fit great, it was a little tough getting it to seat fully on the planetary but once I got it set it fit perfect. Looks great too. Would buy again.

Haven’t been able to install it
It didn’t come with any installation instructions and so far - even after Internet searches and attempts, I haven’t been able to install the drip ring. The ring seems too small and I’m afraid of damaging it by pounding it into place. It wasn’t a huge expense, but has turned into a waste of time.

Drip ring installation
I tried to install the ring in the hot garage where I store my mixer but I couldn’t get it to go on. To get the ring to go on I had to bring my mixer inside overnight to cool it down, the next morning it tapped right on with a rubber mallet no problem. So either cool your mixer or heat the ring up or both to get it to go on. Good luck!

Exteremely difficult to install but works correctly if you can manage it
After doing further research I am rewriting my previous review. The planetary head has slightly raised protrusions around its circumference to grip the ring tightly. The ring needs to be fitted with a special press that most people will not have access to. The factory-fitted ring, if you still have it, will have been stretched when it was fitted and therefore will not be too difficult to re-install. The replacement ring however has never been stretched and therefore will absolutely not just slip on with a simple tap. What I did was to remove the housing from the base and place it upside down on a cloth. Then I lightly filed just the lower edges of the protrusions around the planetary head to ensure there are no sharp edges making it even more difficult to get the ring on. I then placed the ring in position and placed an Ikea coffee mug upside down over the ring. This mug has a rim whose diameter exactly matches the ring, and a much smaller base. Then using a nylon mallet, while pressing firmly down on the mug, hit the center of the base of the mug firmly. This way you apply force evenly around the entire ring each time you strike with the mallet/hammer. The ring will stretch over the protrusions and seat itself. Actually I don't have a nylon mallet so I balanced a small nylon chopping board on the mug and then used a regular hammer on that.Once the ring was in place I placed the handle of a plastic mixing spoon on the edge of the ring to protect it, and tapped a few more times with my hammer to ensure the ring was seated all the way (planetary bolt slots no longer visible).Installing the new ring was extremely difficult but it now looks good.

How to install please read.
Perfect fit! If you are saying it won't fit you are not installing it correctly. You need a rubber mallet. Flip the machine over so the head is on the counter. Have someone help if needed. Place the new ring on the head with the back half of the ring seated as far down as it can go on. (the rear half towards the back of the power head) Now you will see that the front half will be sticking up and not seated on the power head. (Front of machine towards the attachment hub) while holding the back half of the ring in place take a rubber mallet and hit the front of the ring dead center and you will force the ring into position. You may need to pop it a few times but it is a press fit ring. I saw how to install it on the show How It's Made when they featured the KitchenAid factory. My ring fell off years ago and I now have a 20 year old mixer that looks new!

Works for a quick, inexpensive fix to an uncooperative ring
The ring on our 4.5 quart mixer (KSM90 series ) just popped out one day during some heavy holiday use. I was unable to get the old ring back on after trying several times- including trying to crimp it a bit to get a more snug fit. Two men wrestling it to the ground ...and we could still not make it stick. This replacement ring snapped right on with little effort and is holding thus far after a few uses. I recommend it for a quick/cheap fix, rather than taking into a repair shop or replacing the unit - which will cost you a lot more.I read on the Kitchenaid web site that the ring requires a professional machine fit. However, there are a number of good tutorials on the web on how to repair these mixers (including full schematics and parts etc) and all speak of just snapping this cosmetic ring back on (without machine). While I can't guarantee the ring will stay on forever, this $5 fix works in the short term for me.

DO NOT BUY
The replacement ring was a complete waste of money. The replacement t ring did my fit at all, there was no way to put it in. We tried using a rubber mallet like a previous buyer suggested, but had zero luck. I’m throughly dissapointed.
