Works Like Magic
I read all of the reviews, tips, and tricks before buying this. I couldnāt get my algae bloom under control, and I was sick at looking at a green tank. I read a review that said that this stuff killed all of the fish in a tank, but Iām not sure if they used the proper dosage, and that worried me. I have a 50 gal tetra community with cory cats, snails, and shrimp, so I was worried that too much of this stuff would wipe out the whole tank. I added 2.5 ml to the tank, which is half of the recommended dosage, and waited around to see if the water would clear up or if any of the fish would start gasping for air/dying. Within an hour I started noticing that the water was starting to clear up, and the fish seemed fine. I went to bed and woke up to see the tank was almost perfectly clear, and nobody died. I would use this product again, but not the full dosage since the half dose worked just fine.

Kills algae, not plants
I can't speak to it's effects on fish since I don't have any yet, but my planted tank was completely taken over by green hair algae which was all but impossible to manually remove and this killed it all within a week at somewhere around the recommended dose (I needed .5 ml and the smallest measurement in the cap is 1 ml). My plants and java moss appear to have been entirely unaffected. I only wish I hadn't let it get so bad because 5+ water changes later and there's STILL a ton of debris.

NOT fish or shrimp-safe, may wreck your tank
Read the reviews and decided I'd gamble on this as I had a major hair and black beard algae infestation that completely ignores Excel. It does work - it nuked the algae but most of my Amano shrimp are now dead. The two times I added it (following the directions) my fish got stressed as well, racing all around the tank and heading for areas of high water flow for a few hours. The roots of my water lettuce also partially rotted away. Even though it's been a week and I've done multiple water changes I keep waking up to dead shrimp and cloudy water. My fish were even gasping for air. This product completely ruined the balance of my tank and is dangerous for aquatic life.

it does work
Does the job but left my tank with dead messy algae that needed cleaning up. I prefer a tank where I can see the aquaria hence lights ergo algea. It's a vicious cycle. I have since employed snails, ottocinclus catfish and shrimp. They help but don't eliminate it. This product cannot be used with inverts so I no longer use it.

Algae bloom
For some reason I got an algae bloom in my fish tank. The ease of use all I had to do was use the cap and place the liquid in the tank it was good value for my money and made the water have clarity. I k is this product is safe for my fish and its performance left my tank clear. It came in a durable container which was a help.

Keeps tank clean, word of caution
The good: The product works. It cleans the tank very quick, and keeps it clean for weeks. I followed the directions as indicated and worked like a charmā¦. However I absolutely recommend you remove your fish from the tank before using this product, and do a partial water change to further dilute the product after it works its magic. I learned that lesson the hard way, but have no problems since.

Works amazing!!
The media could not be loaded. Fast and effective product! Went from green and cloudy to crystal clear in 30 minutes! Would highly recommend! Be sure to not overdose and read everything very carefully. Dont want to do it with other crustaceans! Other than that works great!

In one week I went from an algea jungle to a normal tank
I had the worst algea problem. I'm using a 32-gallon biocube, and things got so bad, every few days I was pulling ropes of algea that were stringing from the top of the castle to the top of the tank. Entire decorations were coated. The gravel would be sporting what looked like an overgrown lawn. The fish weren't swimming through it, they were swimming around it. And I'd clean it and be back in that same mess 3 or 4 days later. No ammonia spike. My parameters were good. Just the sunlight hitting it funny in the morning hours I think. I was getting sunrise light permeating the tank. After just two doses of the stuff, I was back to normal algea growth. Yes, I need to clean the sides every week and the decorations once in a while, but I'm no longer taking out golf ball sized amounts of the stuff twice a week. The plants and the fish don't seem to care, except the fish are no longer dodging algea and the plants are no longer covered in it.I cleaned it all out before the first dose, and very little came back, but still more than normal. I cleaned it again before the second dose and the tank was good after that. The bottle says to take out the dead algea after the fact, but I think it's better to clean it in advance and not risk an ammonia spike. It's the same work either way, but your fish will be safer.Just, check the directions. This is a lot more concentrated than anything else I've ever used. I need less than half a capful for a 32. I'm used to a full cap for every 20 gallons.
