Reverse pliers!
What a weird tool! Who knew they existed? When you need 'em, you really need 'em. Like when a little hollow metal cylinder with threading on both sides gets tightly screwed into the <inside> of an expensive brass plumbing fixture through a bizarre sequence of unfortunate events and there is no way to grip its own inside to unscrew it. Unless you have ... reverse pliers! Also handy when incandescent glass bulbs break off, leaving their metal base in the fixture socket with nasty shards poking out. Oh yeah, probably also useful if you are a professional who actually knows what lock rings are. Seems sturdy, well-made, etc.

OK for the decent price
Pliers are OK. First set I ordered came without the box of tips so I had to go through the return process. Easy enough but annoying since I had a tool repair waiting on the pliers. Seller needs to pay better attention to what he's shipping. Packaging on both sets was a little beat up but contents OK.The pliers are a little clumsy to use but work OK once you install the correct tips and configure the pliers for inside or outside snap rings. The tips are a little painful to change if you have big hands. Next time will I buy snap ring pliers with fixed tips that are dedicated to inside or outside snap rings vs. a pair that adapts for both types of rings, which this product does. That's purely a convenience factor. If you don't want multiple pliers in your box and/or want to minimize cost these pliers will work for you.

Lame, but works. sorta. Avoid if you can.
So lame, so badly made. Crappy jaws, sloppy pivot. Slammed the pivot with a hammer a few times, tightened it up enough to work for the most part. Pathetic. "Made in USA"?? Wow. China makes way better tools than this, way cheaper. Pretty bad. But, it does the job and if you have a big lock ring to remove, you need these or something like them. I'd avoid buying these if I could find an alternative. Overpriced and not very well made. Whatev.

Broke on first use
Absolute junk. Tip broke on first use. Not worth my time to return an $8 tool. Not sure where Lisle tools are made, but the quality isn't there...at least on this one. When using it for external snap rings, the jaws spread only half as wide as when set to internal use. Bad design. Could have been fixed by a longer transfer bar.One of the screws to hold the tip on was defective. Part of the side of the head was missing (you could see into the slot when looking from the side) and the Phillips head slot was WAY oversize. Had to replace it before first use.

they worked great on the first try
These are just what I needed to finish disassembling my transmission, they worked great on the first try, which is notably better than what I was attempting before, with two flat-head screwdrivers and snap-ring pliers.

Didn't even get one use out of it.
I put the pliers on the snap ring started to apply pressure and...SNAP!! the tip broke off. Never got one use out of it. Very poor product. Amazon took care of it.

This is a terrible product
I have purchased many Lisle tools in the past. This particular tool I found to be extremely awkward and difficult to use. I have a 1995 Thunderbird SC and was attempting to remove the headlamp retaining clips which have little round holes which must be spread apart while pulling up to remove the clips. This was a perfect test for some snap ring pliers. Well these pliers failed miserably. Since they are reversible (convertible), you are supposed to be able to use them for external or internal clips. When you try to use them to spread the clips apart by setting the bar out, the head simply bends and does not allow you to get any real leverage on the rings to pull them outward. It's kind of hard to explain without a video and there really are none that I could find before I purchased. At least Amazon took them back and gave me a refund, they are the best. To bad I had to return them because I was really looking forward to not having to use two 90 degree hooks to remove these clips, although that method worked pretty good... lol.

Decent pliers for external snap rings without holes
Used this on a Ford 4000 transmission to remove external snap rings without pin holes. The knurling on the tips seemed OK but it took a while to really get a good grip on the ring in an oily trans case. It was a pretty big ring, maybe a few inches in diameter, so I would say that these did a great job. Made in the USA too!

Perfect for headlight retrofits.
This is the perfect product for a headlight retrofit. I used these to open up my headlight housing. Baked them in the over at 240F for 20 mins, took them out used a flathead screwdriver to start the separating, then used these lock ring pliers to split it.Highly recommended.

Probably Not for Every Use
For what I needed in a tight area, wasn't great. Handle kept want to flip as they are reversible. Should be ok for some snap rings.
