Sony DSXA400BT Digital Media Receiver with Bluetooth (Black)

Honestly, the days of the CD are pretty much over. With the advent of high density USB, smartphones, streaming services, 4G, Bluetooth and NFC we now have access to tens of thousands of CD's at our finger tips and shoving a single disk into a radio head is down right archaic. Also, who wants to carry around multiple jewel cases and risk scratching them or worse - having them become stuck inside the player with no way to easily extract to disk? I already have Amazon Prime and Audible loaded onto my Galaxy so ditching the CD was a no-brainer for me. Plus I already have thousands of MP3 files on the SD card in my phone, so I am good to go.Enter the Sony DSX400. It was easy to replace my old Sony CD player and re-wire. The entire install too just under an hour and the results were very dramatic.* Better sound* More EQ options* Seamless link between my Galaxy phone via Bluetooth* Multiple music, book, radio & streaming options* Fewer things to go wrong!* MUCH improved FM sensitivity & reception (the specs here are awesome 7db for this versus 8, 9, 12.. even 20db in others)And the "cool" aspect is the seamless integration with a smartphone. Listening to an album or have a playlist on your phone? The head will automatically link to the phone (after about 45 seconds) and immediately start the playback right where you left off. Turn off the car and your smartphone will automatically pause and then restart when you get back in the car; minutes, hours or days later. Same is true with Audible.The only downside is the somewhat clunky interface to set everything up. The menus are a pain to learn and navigate through but the learning curve is short & steep - you can master this inside of 10 minutes. And once it is set up, it runs itself. There is also a remote (which you are paying for) that is pointless. Sony... drop the remote and drop the price $5. Having a remote when the controls are right at hand and you are linked to a smartphone makes about as much sense as.... a CD!Great unit overall. I would easily buy again.

The display only has two brightness settings "so bright it is painful to look at" (in normal mode) and "ridiculously bright" (with the brightness set to "low"). This is fine during the day, but is REALLY distracting at night.If this devices was updated to have a knob that the user could turn to dim the screen (instead of just having one of two modes inconveniently buried deep in one of the sub menu's) that would take it from a 3 star product to a 5 star product.The sound quality is acceptable for the price. The installation is rather simple. The directions are easy to understand. Has plenty of features. It is all around a mediocre product at an excellent price.The Bluetooth might have some incompatibility issues with older smart phones. My fiance has to restart her phone every time she goes into the car to get it to work....I am not sure if this is a problem with the unit or her phone. It works fine with my phone.

This is an excellent product for the price. The FM reception is great and the sound is good. It performs better than the OEM radio (Kia). Installation was also relatively easy. It has FM/AM, bluetooth audio and bluetooth phone control, as well as other things such as pandora radio (which I don't use). There are some minor negatives worth pointing out. The menu system is not very intuitive, and you really have to read the manual to figure out how to navigate it. It also does not have a connection on the back for dimming (when you turn on the headlights at night). Dimming can only be done from the front panel by navigating through the menu system. My biggest issue with this product is the big blue switch labeled "Mega Bass" at the center. It is far too bright at night. I don't listen to loud music so its brightness is an annoyance. I had to cover it up with a piece of black tape. However, this product still deserves 5 stars.

I've really enjoyed this receiver. The sound quality is great and the bluetooth audio works better than many OEM units I've used in rental cars. The biggest downsides for me are that there are a lot of source options and you have to cycle through them which can be annoying as I switch between FM, US and bluetooth a lot. The siri hands free function is also a bit tricky to use but Siri itself it kind of flakey on my ancient iPhone so that may not be the receiver's fault

I purchased this specifically for the Bluetooth connectivity and because it was very affordable. For the first month or two I really loved it. Now, it takes up to 60 seconds for it to turn on when I turn on the car. When it finally does, the Bluetooth icon that should appear on the screen never does and it won't pair with ANY Bluetooth device. So the feature that I bought it for now doesn't work after only a few months of use. It's not worth the money to send it back to Sony for a repair/replacement. You get what you pay for with this radio. Really a shame, because I did enjoy it when it actually worked.

First, the USB port is weak. Sloppy and causes many power on and off situations. Want to know what song is playing? Good luck. I spent 3.5 hours trying to get it display the current song, which it had for a long time, and cannot get it to do it again. You can get it to show song, but then you cannot change volume and when the song ends, the name does not change when the new song begins. Good luck getting it to random play as well. Sony used to be top notch, but not so much anymore. Sounds great, but I want to know what song is playing and not have to fiddle with the USB device, no matter which one I put in there.

Es como viene en la foto, nuevo y bien empaquetado. Es medio complicado conectarlo por Bluetooth por primera vez, aunque si tienes NFC es muy sencillo

Absolutely amazing receiver with lots of features and functions! High quality build and sound output. I definitely recommend this for anybody in the market for a new receiver!

Finally had a chance to install this unit.I am taking away one star due to a few quibbles.Quibble one. While listening to BT Music you must hit the Phone button to make a call. This takes the unit out of BT Audio Mode and in to BT Phone Mode. Once your call is complete you must re-select BT Audio Mode. Annoying. If you receive a call it automatically retuns to the BT Music but this a function of the phone not the head unit.Quibble two: It is fairly easy to accidentally un-pair your device by hitting the main button. As this is also your volume knob it is easy to accidentally press if the road you are on has any unevenness.Quibble three: It seems I have to pretty much yell at the device during hands free calls. My car is fairly loud and during a rain storm I had to lean quite close to the device in order for the other party to hear me.Not quibbles: This unit surprised me with the quality of wireless sound. While playing streaming or stored music the sound is quite good and the EQ adjustments are great for getting the most out of your speakers.Overall when it is playing music it is great.

Works excellent in 06 street glide all functions work excellent replacemnt and bluetooth is great.

Pretty good deck for the price. Bluetooth works great for calls. I only have two complaints.1. The bluetooth takes 30 seconds to connect, that's way longer than even my $10 bluetooth speaker.2. The equalizer settings don't save after turning off my car. I have to reset it every time I start driving, that coupled with the long bluetooth connection means Im sitting waiting to drive for a minute every time i get in.
