Great read for THIRD year medical students (if you even have the time)
I found this book exceptionally helpful early in my fourth year even though almost 50% of it was no longer relevant to me. Nervous for interviews? This book not only helped me think about the important aspects I want to portray about myself, but more importantly, the things I want to find out about the program. And after skimming through the earlier parts about choosing a specialty and applying to away rotations, I definitely think it would have been a great guide in third year. It's like having someone hold your hand and tell you what to do amid this whole business of "planning for your future". Yes, some of it is common sense, but it's some of it certainly isn't!

The book lays out step-by-step best practices to find the perfect residency for your specific ...
I just started my first year of medical school and am so grateful that I was told about this book at this point in my education. The book lays out step-by-step best practices to find the perfect residency for your specific needs and strengths and then to get into the best possible residency training program for that specialty. I would note that the majority of the book is geared for those doing interview prep but the advice for first and second years (and even pre-meds) is good enough that its worth getting as early as possible.

but its useless because of the grim reality
This book is only for local graduates. Nothing described inside refers to IMG - discrimination on marks, language accent, age, skin color.....Few chapters included for IMG are only for merchandise purposes and allure you that you will be informed in details, but its useless because of the grip reality: if you have no personal relationships, you cannot get a training spot. I think this should be the INTRODUCTION of the book, not the beautiful words about passion and professionalism, rubbish.

It is awesome. Covers how to pick a specialty
I wish I had bought this as a first year medical student. It is awesome. Covers how to pick a specialty, covers FAQs about board exams, getting letters of rec, doing ERAS, etc.

great resource for the new match 2014
at the time i purchased it, it was the only book that was made for the 2014 match and released before the match opened. I am using it now and find it very helpful.
