Yamaha Arius YDP162B Traditional Console Digital Piano with Bench, Black Walnut

My husband got this piano for my 6 year old and himself, both have started to learn the instrument. We had an 88 key Casio real piano touch digital keyboard but it is busted so we look for a replacement for daily piano practice. This piano is compact, elegantly designed and extremely well-made. Apart from the fact that it has a power switch, a volume nob, a record and play button, and a headphone jack, it sounds and feels like a real piano. My son, who may I say was not the most enthusiastic pupil to practice, fell in love with this piano right away and is now constantly fighting with my husband for his time to practice on the piano. We got this piano for a month and our son's piano performance improved significantly (of course having one's father as a rival also motivated our competitive boy). A purchase way worth the money!

The piano itself is good. But the inserting stuffs in the bottom of the stool legs were missing.

We own a U1 upright yamaha with which we are thorougly happy with, however, our eldest daughter has transformed from a budding learner to an talented pianist who practices constantly :) I ordered this electric because of the good reviews and Yamaha's well earned reputation. It was a good choice. Though it will never replace an acoustic piano the Arius is a very good facsimile for headhone(quiet)practice. It also is an acceptable stand-in for the acoustic while playing through the speakers. The action is very good and the material of the keys feels almost identical to the feel of a "real piano". Alhough I find the voices a little gimmicky having three piano iterations is useful since the 3rd one most approaches our upright, the other 2, as advertised, mimick the resonance of grand pianos. Assembly is very simple but to, my surprise, there is no included assembly manual, the instructions are on the box itself. A word of advice, though the piano is "normal" sized, the shipping box is huge and heavy, the packaging weighs 50% as much as the piano, a dolly is a must to move it around. Our pianist is delighted (much better than the practice pianos in the conservatory) with it and now we get a little more quiet time than before. Personally I think this is a great choice for practicing proffesionals and for learners that dont want to invest, as of yet, on an a very expensive acoustic instrument. Id give it five stars but musicians would pummel me for giving a perfect score to something that is not the "real thing" LOL!

I am an amateur self-taught piano player. I play pieces by Joe Hisaishi, Ludovico Einaudi, and other contemporary composers. Back in college I played in practice rooms 5 times a week, both for fun and as a way to relieve stress. Now I graduated and started working, I really need a piano in my apartment. After much research, I finally chose the Yamaha YDP 162B.I am happy to say this piano satisfies all my needs. The look is good, the sound is gorgeous, and the touch sensitivity is more than enough for me. When I play on this model, I can feel there is a slight difference from a real piano, but that doesn't affect playing at all. Nor does it prevent me from enjoying the music. At this price level, it's about as good as you can get.The sound quality is even better with headphone. One thing to keep in mind: the headphone jack on this piano is the 1/4 inch (6.3mm), so a normal headphone plug (which is 1/8 inch) won't match it. I bought along with friends and family as a gift for my girlfriend. She had been eyeing this piano for awhile and finally we decided to surprise her with it on her birthday. Packaging was fine and setup did not take long (just needed helped mounting the piano onto the stand which didn't take long.As far as sound, I myself cannot really say much about it because I don't play piano however, my girlfriend and her roommate both liked the fact that the keys were weighted giving a real feel and the sound they said was very nice making it sound like a real piano. I don't have much really to say to about the item besides it sounds great. Only qualm which might not even be a problem was the piano seat. I feel liek there was suppose to be rubber stubs for the bottoms because there were holes as if you could place some under. Mine did not come with such rubber stops nor do I know if they come with them at all.

I am loving my new piano. I attended an all Steinway university so I will say I was a bit spoiled, but this piano plays exceptionally well. I've had it for about a month now and I have no complaints! Sound is good, the feel of the weighted keys is nice, and the pedals work smoothly. Assembly was easy as well, and I was impressed with how well it was all packaged when it was delivered to my home...for FREE might I add. Amazon has impressed me yet again with their free shipping, even with such a large purchase such as this. This is a great buy for someone looking for something a little more stationary than a traditional keyboard, something short of purchasing an upright piano.

Great product! Action of each keys meets my expectations. High quality. Sounds lovely. Easy to assemble. It’s a perfect size for my tiny bed room. Now I can practice until late at night. This good digital piano is very functional and fun. Highly recommended. *fast shipping

No issues till now after month of usage. But I don't have experience with other digital one. It does not exactly sound like classical but pretty close to a classical one.
