I live in an older house (100+ years) and the windows are original. They are also rather narrow and these spring curtain rods are perfect for the curtains I put on them.The main 'light' (pane of glass) is narrow but long with four smaller lights above it...I don't want curtains over the upper panes and the spring rod works out so well, holding the curtains in place without taking up either a lot of space with bulky brackets or sticking out too far from the window frame.They stretch some so the curtains are held in place firmly against the frame, and if I want to tuck the curtain up (for light, or to look out, or to clean the window) I can tuck it under the spring and it's held there securely until I take it down.I used to be able to buy these in regular stores and when I couldn't tried using regular curtain rods which were a bother and a problem. Amazon to the rescue! I bought several packages and as I take curtains down to wash them, I replace the rigid curtain rods with the spring rods.I have a doorway where I wanted a curtain (for privacy) and the rigid curtain rods (again!) created problems, so I connected two of the spring rods (since they're coiled springs they can be sort of screwed together) and used that to hold up the curtains (Japanese norin). Again, I can tuck an edge of the curtain up (if needed) and otherwise just know they're not going to get knocked down. I do put a small nail at the center of the connected rods to help hold the weight of the curtains up for safety's sake.I've seen them used both top and bottom for curtains where the curtains need to not move...again, the flexability of the spring makes it ideal for this use. And since they're flexible, they can be used on a curving surface (ladies dressing table, etc) with no problem.Once again, Amazon came through when all the department stores, hardware and specialty shops couldn't..I should also mention they were shipped quickly, were well-packed and exactly as ordered.Definitely five stars!

These spring sash rods are the only way to hang a panel at times. Depending where you want to hang. They work well and never wear out. Impossible to find in stores these days

These spring style drapery "rods" are amazingly hard to find! But they're absolutely the best option for sheers on a french door!

It took me 10 years to find the kitchen curtains I wanted and when I looked for these items from when I was a kid I very very surprised to still find them.

Omg so hard to find! These are perfect and are what I need to open my windows without the curtain getting caught.

Exactly what I was hoping for. Works great on a door panel to keep curtain in place.
