Made my hair dry and upset my curl pattern.
Update: I recently decided to give this texturizer a second chance. I reapplied to my new growth only but this time instead of just using the neutralizing conditioner, I alsousede a neutralizing shampoo that I bought from a Beauty Supply store. It is not Lanange but it worked. In addition I used another deep conditioner along with the neutralizing conditioner. And I must say, I like the results much better this time. The hair is softer but my curls are still there and it's not too dry. I increased the stars from 3 to 4.Original: I can't tell you how much I wanted to love this and although I don't totally hate it, I am disappointed. Years ago, my cousin who lives in New York and who has a similar hair texture to mine told me that one of the best hairdressers that you can get is a Dominican hairdresser. She said they really know what to do with textured hair. Her hair was always beautiful. So when I read the reviews on this and saw that a number of Dominican women were using it, I thought I'm in luck! I finally get to get my hands on something that Dominican women favored for their textured hair. Then, I saw reviews from a lot of other African American women (like me) who are using the product and having good experience with it. So I thought "I can't lose!"So I bought the texture softener along with the neutralizing conditioner and followed the instructions to a tee. I've attached two photos showing before and after. The first picture is the before and the second picture is the after. I basically just took a handful of my hair and took a picture of the ends of it against a white wall so that you can see my curl pattern. They both look pretty much the same but what you don't see is the lengths that that I had to go to to get my curl pattern back in that second picture. My hair is basically loaded with product right now. My hair was so dry and felt so stripped after this process that I had to douse my hair with several different products including putting aloe vera gel on my ends to restore some moisture to it. I've got castor oil, almond oil, the aloe vera, plus a couple of other products in my hair . I've never had to put that many products in my hair at once before and not in those quantities. Only then did my curl pattern start to return a little bit. Before that, the hair just looked very dry and kind of parched. I can't really describe it but if you have curly hair, you may have heard people refer to the "slip". I believe that's where you can pull on the end of the curl and feel it slip around your finger or when you release it, have it spring back. Well after this process, my curls weren't springing anywhere. Some pieces of it looked like a chicken's head after some of the feathers have been pulled out. There were little pieces sticking up. My ends felt very hard and dry. Also, when I don't use any product, I have very little elongation. I have just as much shrinkage of my curls as before I put this in. The hair at the root does feel softer and easier to comb through which is nice but it really fried my ends. And I don't use a lot of chemical treatments on my hair. My hair is naturally that color of red that you see in the photos. I have used texture softeners before in the past. I found that the best one was the Just for Me texture softener for kids. When I've used that it has always left my hair very soft and very beautiful. But I haven't used one for a while so my hair was almost completely virgin hair. I feel really torn about this product because I love the way it's feeling at the roots. It is so much easier to comb through. But I hate what it did to my ends. And it could be that there might have been just a little bit of residual texturizer at the very ends of my hair that had not completely grown out yet. For this reason I'm not giving this product one or two stars. I give it three stars. Because it's possible that I may have caused some of the damage myself. But even if you look further up the hair shaft, you can see that it still looks a little frizzy and dry. The first day after I put in this treatment, I pulled my hair back in a ponytail and I kept getting all these little flyaways. My hair wouldn't stay down without me putting tons of product on it. It wasn't doing that before. I think I might stick with the Just for Me children's hair texturizer. My end goal was to have a product that allowed me to keep my curls but just slightly loose and them a little bit so that I would have a little less shrinkage. I have long hair that stops below my shoulder blade. When my hair is wet if I lean my head back my hair almost comes to the top of my waist. But once it's dry, because it's so curly, it stops somewhere just below shoulder blade. I just wanted a slightly longer look without having to wait for my hair to grow out some more. And this didn't really give me that. I'm afraid that if I don't keep my hair saturated with product, that my hair might actually start to break.

Best Texturizer on the market! Hands down!
When the Dominican blow-out was a phenomenon, my Dominican beautician would use this product (and their other hair care products) on my hair. Once that craze went away and blew everyone’s hair on the floor, I no longer had access to it. Came across it on an Italian website and began purchasing it for personal use. I’ve been using this product for 12+ years and wouldn’t dare try anything else. I now have a short brush cut and still use it to tame the bulk and frizz. Love Love Love this product! I also purchased a huge bottle of the Alter Ego shampoo. Definitely worth the buy.

Better than Mizani’s Mild for fine and baby hair. Strand test results.
I have fine hair and faithfully used Mizani Regular for years applied by professional stylists. Every months I would apply it to my new growth believing that it was helping to prevent breakage at the line of demarcation between my new growth and previously processed hair. I noticed that my hair was looking furry in the sun. And I noticed that my hair was looking thinner. But, I did not stop until my hair got to the point where I figured out how to manage the new growth through deep conditioners and did not feel that I needed to chemically straighten my hair. Now what? it has ben over 4 months nw since my last relaxer, and my bad days, I want to reach for a relaxer and end the whole stretch period. But, now until I understand what went wrong and what to do right. So, I ran a test to figure out what to do with my hair. I plucked some textured strands from my hair brush. And, I started a timer and applied Mizani Mild to one strand and Linange texturizer to another. On the Mizani strand, the curl pattern had significantly softened in 5 minutes; the curl had significantly less spring back. In only 13 minutes, it was bone straight and likely overprocessed. On the linange strand, the curl had full spring back after 5 minutes and looked the same, after 10 minutes, the curl still had spring back but it folded back into a circle with a bigger diameter, and after 15 minutes, it had softened into a loose wave. After 20 minutes, it was in a looser wave. Optimal seems to be 10 minutes or so, but the 20 min mark is straight but it still not oveprocessed. With this extended period of time at the spring back stage, this formula is practically fool proof.I repeated the same thing with hair from my edges. As background, after 4 months without a relaxer, my edges are growing in. And I don’t recall them ever coming in to the extent that they are now. But, without a relaxer, they look unkempt and I am struggling to get them to behave with edge control products. The longer they grow, the harder it gets. So, I would like to relax them so that they look nicer. At the same time, I feel like I am seeing my edges growin for the first time, and I want to protect them. So, enter edge test.I coated a strand with Mizani mild diluted with oil (4 oz relaxer in 0.5 to 1 oz of oil) and with Olaplex. The other strand was coated in the Linange Mild. Notably, these edge hairs processed in half the time. In 8 minutes, the thinner were processed at the level that the Linange Texturizer had reached in15 minutes with thicker hair strands. Notably, these curls had spring back. My points here are - The Mizani had to be diluted to achieve the same results as the Linange out of the box and that this level of sensitivity to chemicals was probably why my hair was breaking and thinning. Not only were we using regular strength but also I doubt that it was rinsed off and neutralized in 8 minutes. Now what? For me, I plan to continue to learn about how to use products with ceramides, pH and porosity control. moisture balancing treatments (Aphrogee), coconut oil and other ideas to try and preserve my fine, shoulder strength. One thing is for sure. I do not plan to ever use a Mizani relaxer on my hair again. And Linange looks like a winner.

Good results on virgin course 4b/c hair
I started the timer the moment I put it on. I ended up leaving it on for about 9 minutes. I tried to put it on as much even as possible to start and then worked my hands through it. I had been natural for a while, so this was on “virgin” hair. I had course 4 b/c ever shrinking natural hair was hard to manage. I had coils similar to this naturally, but they only showed if they were wet. Decided to look for a texturizer to soften my curls so that they can show more.Notice: This will not give you curls but will simply loosen the curls that you have already.Timing and even distribution is everything.

Natural feel.
My hair doesn't feel "chemically altered ". Just softer and more manageable.
