This radio is compatible for iPhone 5 and later and iPod touch 5 with some flaws and disadvantages.
while the iPhone 5 itself can't fit into the iHome as it was originally built with the 30-pin connector, you can loophole yourself by using the lighting-to-30-pin connector adapter. it is a small tool used to plug in new devices so that the port can be compatible to use on the adapter (apple also has it's own version as well, but the cord in between becomes a flaw). simply plug the lightning-to-30 into the dock then slot in your device into the lightning connector. sounds easy, but here's where the train stops at its tracks.1. the radio says that you don't need to take the case off of your iPhone or your iPod. with newer generations, the adapter requires you to remove the case unless you buy apple's version of the adapter.2. with newer generations, for audio play to work, the 3.5 mm male audio jack has to be inserted first as the output aux port has moved in a different position. putting force through while the device is connected will cause the converter to not work as usual, which can also cause your device to not charge normally.3. apple's version of the converter will not allow the new iPhone/iPod to stand on the dock since it has a cord in between, but it will be much easier to charge and to play your music without the need of removing your case.4. do not tip the device too far as it may break the lightning part of the converter. (made this mistake once and it wasn't pretty. buzzkill!)so why buy another ihome when you can just use a helpful tool that will save you money. wisest way to get an ihome. ;)

Charges and plays, but not neccessarily at the same time!
I just received this so I can't comment on durability. It's pretty self explanatory out of the box. I got it for the sole purpose of using it in my kids' room to play music at night when they go to bed using my old ipod that doesn't stay charged very well. So, I didn't realize when I got this that while you can charge your ipod and play your ipod with the AUX function, you can't necessarily do them at the same time! Since my ipod has the headphone jack on the bottom, I can't charge and play my ipod through the system at the same time. Not sure how I missed that the AUX feature was through a plug in, not through the ipod charge connection like other "docks" I've had in the past. :O So, I'll have to remember to unplug the aux every morning to put it on to charge so it's ready to go each night. Annoying, but technically, still works. The lack of battery back up is annoying. For $15, I'll keep it and try to pay better attention next time.

ok phone charger
This is a replacement for a much more expensive alarm dock that recently broke. This one is much harder to place the phone on the dock. With my prior one, I could dock my phone from my laying in bed position and my toddler could dock and undock it. This one requires you to place it on the just right and usually requires 2 hands - 1 to hold up the plug and the other to push down the phone. Other than that, it's what you would expect for a fairly cheap alarm. The numbers are big and bright (which is distracting to me). I got this for the primary purpose of having my phone charging close to my bed and having 1 less plug. I like that I don't have to use my iphone plug so now I can keep that in my travel bag. The rest of the alarm features are adequate but I most use the phone itself as the alarm.

Does its job for a good price
I wanted a clock radio in my bathroom for showers and getting ready in the morning. However, you know how radio stations are with their commercials, especially between7am and 9 am. So, I decided I could use my MP3 thus, I wanted a clock, a radio (for news) and music (via MP3). This works very well at reception, has 20 stations you can preset (we don't have THAT many good ones here in Colorado Springs), decent volume (to overcome shower noise), can charge your MP3 (but I do not believe it can charge and play at same time-still working on that one), has 2 alarms you can set to different times, and is nice and small so it can fit onto a small vanity/sink/cabinet (which I really like). Volumes and tuning are buttons (rather than dials) which I am not as used to but think are fine. Overall, for the price it is very good. You can by better sound at a much higher price if you wish. This also was one of the only ones under $100 that i could find for my Sansa MMP3; most are made for ipods

Love this for my new little iphone4-- not the trendiest ...
Love this for my new little iphone4-- not the trendiest person here since I bought it after the 6's came out. NOTE IT FITS A FOUR-- I understand the charging ports changes with the fives. So far I just dock the phone to charge it every night. Love the convenient it is!! Four months later I have not even made it into the app store-- so anything else I have not tested. The clock setting buttons are kind of odd-- but how often do you set the clock? It has two alarms that will go off at the same time everyday-- the radio on the clock works well enough. It is small and compact-- and if I was back living in "cube town" 40 hours a week, It would be great to have on the desk. No battery back up though if the power goes out and you are counting on the alarm-- but isn't that what the iPhone alarm is for???

Nothing fancy, but works for me!
Received this in 2 days (on a Sunday even!) thanks to Amazon Prime. I was prepared to have to send it back due to so many conflicting reviews. I'm happy to report this will work just fine for me. I wanted it to go in the bathroom so I could listen to my iPod while getting ready for work. It's small and fits on the shelf with no problems. The sound is decent enough. The only problem I see so far is that you CANNOT listen to the iPod and charge it at the same time. In order to listen to the iPod, you have to connect the attached cable to the headphone jack on the iPod, and since it's at the same end as the charging jack, it won't work. Not a big issue for me because I have 2 other units in the house that will. Another concern was that there isn't a dimmer for the clock, but it doesn't seem as bright as some other clocks, so I don't think it will be a problem.I was looking for a basic unit with no need for bells and whistles, and this fits the bill just fine. For $17.00, I'd say I got a great deal!
