I bought this for my child minders back garden gate, as her first one got damaged through daily use, then the one they replaced it with as a 'what they could get at the time' broke quickly and I knew she needed something like our own gate that will last about 30 uses a day of adults in and out.As per the pictures is a thick gauge galvanised steel, so far its been at the child minders with no sign of wear, which is more than can be said for the previous ones!

Great quality product, we love it. We use our gate regularly and have struggled in the past with ill fitting and poor quality handles that needed replacing too regularly. It took some time to find this item as the usual ones popped up first but I was determined to find a better quality product. You get what you pay for. It is so easy to get in and out of our gate now.

No criticism but a warning for others who like me thought this was going to be black, it is galvanised (silvery) and very chunky/heavy. Great if that's what you are looking for. I was hoping for a more lightweight black latch for an indoor door, which this is not suitable for.

Sturdy, nice feel, is secure. Installed this by myself and i'm glad I got it.

Really substantial latch that won’t bend or distort easily in windy weather

Very rustic, looks aged and a bit rough round the edges.... but that'd exactly what we were looking for, didn't want pristine stainless steel .... it's for a 2metre tall garden gate ..... very happy with it the swing bar that latches and holds the gate is very solid 5mm thick and should last...
