Easy way to extend your wired network
My home is multi-level and all interior spaces are finished which makes running any network cables very difficult. I needed to extend my wired CAT 5 network from the Router location to a home office and this technology makes this task very simple because my house was wired in the mid 1970's and has CATV RG-59 coax in most every room. The devices are plug and play and require no setup. Simply connect each device to the coax cable connections and connect the necessary CAT 5 network cables and you have extended your Ethernet using the existing RG-59 cable in your home. In addition, the devices have built in splitters allowing you to continue using the cable for your TV signals. I purchased two of these Ethernet over coax devices to replace similar units manufactured by Gefen which had failed. The new ZyXEL HAL3105 units perform as well or better than the Gefen and run at considerably lower operating temperature. The ZyXEL units are not even warm to the touch where the Gefen units were very hot and this might explain why they failed.

Works great with 2wire uverse.
I'm renting a house and didn't want to tear anything up to run wired ethernet to the office on the other side of the house. 802.11 B/G (single and dual modes) was flaky and dropped connections constantly.I ordered this device and hooked it up to the 2wire DSL modem provided by AT&T U-verse and it worked right away. I then rerouted the coax that existed under the house and after replacing a bad splitter, it's up and running fine. I'm submitting this review over the connection.Latency is under 2ms, usually around 1ms, including the switch I have at my desk. I have gigabit in the office, 802.11N from the router I have hooked up to the HomePNA box in bridge mode, and about 200mbs to the 2wire box, which surpasses sufficient by a large amount.
