Five Stars! Huh?
Okay, this movie really isn't that great. It's boring. The gore is...meh. The story isn't really compelling. So why give it five stars?Fred Olen Ray is one of the great b-movie directors. His pedigree speaks for itself. The thing with this BLU-RAY release is the commentary track. It's enlightening, interesting, and tells a lot of great production stories. All of Fred's commentaries are informative. Plus, you get the interviews and dumb fan films. It's the Blu-Ray Package that I'm giving the five stars, not the movie itself, though the movie does have its moments. If you're buying this blind, or you're not a Fred Olen Ray mega-fan, you should rent some kind of version of it first, and you'll quickly know if you're the audience for this movie or not.Another thing, I really hope Fred keeps putting out Blu-Rays of his older movies. Would love to see one of The Tomb.

indian burial ground horror awesomeness.
I remember renting this one on a double feature with The Slayer back in the VHS days and I loved it .The Blu ray (as i am watching it now )is a little grainy but not too bad for a low budget 80s drive in style grindhouse flick , but thats just how i like it .It gives the movie a certain vintage feel when they leave some flaws in. Dont listen to the negative reviews this is a good little horror movie .Those who gave it 1 and 2 stars probably enjoy movies like Twilight. However true horror hounds will definitely appreciate this one , it has all the ingredients like memorable characters, great gore scenes, the harbinger (old man who warns the kids), and it even has the trademark campfire scene. 80s horror at is best.

Definitely A Midnight Movie
It’s a slasher from that time in the very early 80s so go in expecting nothing and you might end up being entertained by it. Some ideas worked and some didn’t. What didn’t work for me was the professor character. The film could’ve been better without him. I was surprised by the gore, though, the film being low budget and all. I was not expecting that at all. The film didn’t bore me like I was expecting it to after reading some reviews on here. This is definitely a midnight movie and I can see it being shown in grindhouse theaters back in the day (which it probably did). It’s got that feel to it. As far as it being a limited release of 2000 copies hype, I highly doubt that it is as this has been out for a while and it’s still available. All in all, good price for an obscure 80s horror film on bluray.

Love it
For the budget that Fred and gang had to make this film I think they did a good job. I love cheesy movies and this is one of my favs.

A disappointing B-movie even with low expectations. But… I’ll admit it gave me my share of giggles.
Our very first image is of an incredibly ugly, almost Cro-Magnon-looking man sloppily decapitating someone. This zany random opener is equal parts laughably awesome and laughably stupid. Then, continuing in the spirit of batshit randomness, we cut to a lion-headed shaman basically just snarling on a mountain top as some old man finds a Native American artefact and stabs himself in the throat. No sense will come of these scenes in the ensuing 80 minutes… and those were probably the best 2 minutes of the movie.A group of college students set out on an extra credit archeological expedition to excavate artefacts from the same Native American site where all that aforementioned bonkers crap just happened. On their way they receive a warning from a weird gas station loiterer—but naturally, they ignore it. Among the students, the sympathetic DJ (Jo-Ann Robinson; Malicious, The Devil’s Dolls) never wanted to disturb the Native lands, likening the act to digging up their graves. She was right! They quickly uncover several Native relics and strange things begin to happen. They are haunted by the lion-headed shaman, some mild supernatural manifestations are observed, and an exploding ghost shaman head in a campfire and possesses one of them (Richard Hench; Deep Space, Biohazard, Slaughterhouse Rock, The Tomb). Once possessed, he accosts, kills and scalps his girlfriend. Then he tries to kill the others. After the gory opening scene, we wait an hour for any more excitement. There’s a really well executed throat slip followed by a scalping likely inspired by Maniac (1980). But most of the kills and all other action afterwards are pretty weak. When they defeat our black magic-practicing shaman, it couldn’t have been more boring and dumb. Director Fred Olen Ray (Biohazard, Evil Spawn, Deep Space) succeeds at making yet another film offering no more value than the intoxicated laughs you’ll get with your friends.

I'm a big fan of Fred Olen Ray, so ...
I'm a big fan of Fred Olen Ray, so this is a no-brainer. It is limited edition. If anyone wants this. They should hurry as I think they are only pressing 1000 of these. AAA+++

KEEP AWAY FROM THIS INDIAN BURIAL GROUND
despite the negative criticisms of some viewers I thought this was entertaining enough.I had never seen this one before even when it was available on rental V..H.S.so I told myself "give this a go"I'm glad I did.The plot line is original-an Indian burial ground disturbed by a group of college students digging for artifacts and one of them becoming possessed by the spirit of a long dead Indian called BlackClaw. The possessed student goes on the rampage killing his student accomplices and there is one nasty throat slitting sequence-but hey-some of the modern slashers are far worse!Fred Olen Ray has come up with a low budget horror movie with unknown actors and actresses but this does not distract from the creepy desolate mountain settings and of course the one ugly son of a gun face of Black Claw.As regards the bluray transfer this is not brilliant but acceptable as one can see the film has been sourced from whatever different prints that were available. So worth watching and adding to my slasher collection!
