Transcend 1TB SATA III 6Gb/s MTS800 80 mm M.2 SSD (TS1TMTS800)

Bought this M.2 as a low cost bootup SSD for my new X99 system and I am not disappointed. It works just as good as my Intel SSD that is less than two years old and a better price than their current SSD of same size. I was worried since I've never used transcend for SSD option but so far it's been a great low cost choice. If you have a newer motherboard that can take an M.2 then I would buy this unless you want a bigger boot drive. I bought this for my MSI X99 SLI Plus and I'm glad I did that! Will buy again!***04/17/2016 Firmware update assistance guide***After spending weeks digging into the firmware update failing to install per the instructions from Transcend I found a Chinese forum with basic instructions on an alternate way to update the firmware. I decided to build a guide to assist others with an alternate solution. Keep in mind firmware updates are at your own risk and you will have to reinstall Windows if you have it installed to this drive.Download and install Transcend SSD Scope, go to FW Update, if you don’t have the latest version then it will allow you to hit Download. Once it’s complete it will let you know (the download is rather slow from Transcend so wait). Once completed the software should have made a folder on your C drive called Transcend_SSD_FW_Update_Package (unless you have a D drive then it will default to that drive). Once in the folder you’ll see a N1126KB_TS256GMTS800_TS6500_L95B_QDPD.zip file, extract this file. Once completed open the new folder of the same name and you’ll see an .ISO file N1126KB_TS256GMTS800_TS6500_L95B_ODP (for this example, latest version). You’ll need to extract that file (you can use a program like 7zip if you cannot do so).Once extracted there is a folder that is called “TCE” open this folder and you’ll see a file called mydata.tgz, copy this file to a USB flash drive. Next you’ll need to download a Linux distribution and use that to install the file. I got this to work once I found Puppy Linux, you can do a google search for tahr-6.0.5_PAE (the first link in google took me to [...]) and download tahr-6.0.5_PAE.iso . Once this is completed use a program of your choice to burn it to a CD. After it is done you’ll want to reboot your PC and ensure it boots to the CD Rom.After it is done loading you’ll be on the desktop. At the bottom you’ll see an icon for hard drives and flash drives, select the USB flash drive with the mydata.tgz file. Click on that file once and a new box will appear on the screen, click Yes then a new window will pop up and click Yes on that. On the next pop up window hit OK. Next click on the File icon in the upper left hand corner. On the new window click once on the green up arrow. On the next window click once on the “opt” folder. Then click once on JDM_FW_Update_Tool and the firmware update program will launch. It should show your Transcend drive listed, hit Update.Now at completion you will get a pop up about shutting down so go ahead and allow that to happen. Once it stops at a text prompt you can eject the CD and disconnect the USB flash drive. At this point you will have to reload Windows if your OS is installed to this drive.

I built a computer last year with very inexpensive components, the only top of the line parts were the motherboard (MSI gaming 7 Z97) and power supply (corsair 850W), as every other part can simply be upgraded in the future (i3-4130, waiting for i7 broadwell to become more affordable; 4gb ram; intel hd graphics; and a cheap 1TB hard drive I had laying around). Slowly I started upgrading each component, 24gb ram and dual 7970 crossfire graphics cards, and now the 512GB SSD.I noticed the mobo had an M.2 SSD slot which I never seen before and thought it was neat. I like to keep the cable management in my PC clean so the idea of having another drive with two cables (sata and power) didn't seem appealing. So when this SSD lowered in price a bit, I snagged it to see what the fuss with SSD's are all about.Wow. Just wow. I thought my computer was slow because of the CPU was bottlenecking everything, but no, it was the hard drive that couldn't keep up. I cloned my windows 8.1 (now 10) over to the SSD, ran TRIM and my computer is flying at speeds that I still can't believe. Boot time takes less than 10 seconds from when I press the power button to the login screen, whereas before it would be well over a minute or two on the HD. Programs open immediately, no wait whatsoever. Again, I did not do a clean install but just cloned my windows partition to the SSD, which makes the results even more impressive. I didn't run any actual speed tests, but I can tell you that GTAV story mode loads within 20 seconds for me now rather than 2+ minutes before. My favorite part is that my PC looks exactly the same, the graphics cards covers up the M.2 so everything is still as clean as the day I built it.I guess the only downside is I can't procrastinate on work while I wait for everything to load because everything is instant. Literally instant. I am a true believer in SSD's now and will upgrade the rest of my computers/laptops with SSD's due to this computer-life changing experience.

I bought this to upgrade the hard drive in my Samsung ATIV 9 ultrabook that ships with a 128gb drive that just so happens to also be a Transcend. I wasn't interested in artificial benchmarks in terms of speed, nor do I need a drive that tops out the charts such as the more expensive Crucial M550. The stock Transcend was plenty fast--I simply wanted more storage space.Installation was a snap. I imaged my drive using Macrium Reflect which I cannot recommend highly enough. It's substantially better than Arconis True Image. Since I didn't have an external enclosure for the hard drive, I instead used a USB 3.0 external hard drive and burned the original disk's image to that drive. I then installed the new drive and burned the image on the USB disk to this one. All told it took about 30 minutes, including opening up and closing the notebook.Since installation I've used the drive every day. My note book is a workhorse--I use it 3-4 hours a day, sometimes more. I've had zero issues with this drive, nor do I expect to in the future. My Crystal Disk scores are in the 480 range for sequential reads and 290 for writes, which isn't tip of the spear speed, but is plenty fast enough for my purposes. If you want the very fastest, check out the M550. It's a tad more expensive, but is roughly 10% faster.Overall I'm very pleased with this disk. It does everything I need it to and the price is reasonable for a M.2 disk of this size.

Mein neues Notebook von Akoya hatte von Haus aus nur eine normale Festplatte. Da es aber einen M.2-Steckplatz frei hat, habe ich mich entschlossen mal in die SSD-Welt einzusteigen. Den Schritt habe ich nicht bereut. Die Trennunng von Applikationen (auf der SSD zusammen mit dem Betriebssystem) und Daten (auf der normalen Festplatte) macht so auch Sinn.Die Installation ist relativ einfach, beim ersten Reinstecken saß die SSD wohl noch nicht richtig, so dass sie nicht gleich erkannt wurde, aber nach einem Raus- und wieder Reinstecken wurde sie dann ohne weiteres erkannt.Da der Laptop sowieso neu war, habe ich mich gleich für eine Neuinstallation des Betriebssystems entschieden (bei Windows 10 kein Problem), so dass alles frisch installiert wurde.Jetzt bootet der Rechner blitzschnell und auch ein Versetzen in den Ruhezustand / Wiederstarten geht dank der SSD blitzschnell.Hoffentlich ist sie auch langlebig, das kann natürlich nur der Lauf der Zeit zeigen.Fazit: Solide Einsteiger-SSD (mit 128GB für den Einstieg ausreichende Größe) mit hoher Geschwindigkeit im Vergleich zu Standard-Festplatten

C'était la première fois que j'achetais un SSD pour ordinateur portable et je ne suis pas déçu au niveau des perfomances.Tout d'abord, l'installation s'est faite sans problème (sur Acer Aspire V nitro), il manque juste la vis pour fixer, d'ou le fait que j'enlève une étoile, mais sinon à par ça très simple.Le détection du SSD a été délicate, mais après deux redémarrage et quelques tutos suivi sur internet, j'ai pu le repérer.J'ai ensuite sauvegarder mes données personnelles sur un DD externe, puis réinitialiser entièrement le PC. J'avais une clé USB pour réinstaller Windows 10, j'ai sélectionné le disque SSD et Windows s'est installé dessus, et j'utilise maintenant mon HDD comme une disque dur normal, en y mettant médias et quelques applications que je juge pas important de booster avec le SSD.Maintenant, à l'allumage, la page d'accueil arrive en 5 secondes au lieu de 30-45 secondes auparavant (si si) et mes applications (FL Studio, After Effect, CS-GO) se charge beaucoup plus rapidement une fois installés sur le disque dur.Aucun regret.Je conseille tout de même à ceux qui ont beaucoup d'application de prendre une quantité de mémoire supérieur, celle-ci fait l'affaire pour ma part car je n'utilise pas beaucoup d'applications, mais pour tout ceux qui veulent mettre des jeux lourds etc etc, je vous conseille 256 Go.Ah oui et n'utilisez pas Renee Becca ou autre logiciels de duplication de partition, ça a été vite le bordel dans mes dossiers pour ma part, je vous conseille un reset avec boot sur USB (voir sur google), avec sauvegarde des données et applications sur DD externe.

Ab Windows 8?, aber jedenfalls Windows 10 gibt es die Möglichkeit Windows auf einem USB-Stick zu installieren und von dort (in praktisch jedem PC) zu booten (wobei, wenn geänderte Hardware gefunden wird es ein paar Minuten dauern kann, bis alle Treiber konfiguriert sind). Für mich eine ideale Umgebung um Festplatten- oder Backup-Tools verwenden zu können, ohne dass die normal gebootete HDD/SDD in Verwendung ist.Der Haken dabei, eigentlich sind es mehrere, ist, dass das GUI Programm zum Erstellen eines WTG USB-Sticks meines Wissens nach nur in der Enterprise Version von Windows enthalten ist. Aber es gibt Alternativen, z.B. WinToUSB (GUI Programm mit vielen Einstellungen z.B. um WTG auch mit einer UEFI Firmware booten zu können), oder von Microsoft das DISM (Befehlszeilen-)Programm (kann über den AIK von Microsoft downgeladen werden, dann den USB-Stick mit WTG installieren durch: dism /Apply-image /imagefile:install.esd /index:1 /applydir:x:\ und bcdboot x:\Windows /s x:). Wer sich die GB des AIK Downloads sparen möchte, kann nach GetWAIK googlen.Leider ist jedoch ein WTG fähiger USB-Stick notwendig, damit WTG zuverlässig funktioniert. Diese sind aber selten und extrem überteuert. Der Unterschied zu einem normalen USB-Stick ist, dass das "Removeable Media Flag" nicht gesetzt ist, d.h. dass sich der USB-Stick als Festplatte und nicht als Large-Floppy anmeldet (und nur kann ein USB-Stick partitioniert werden und Windows von jeder und nicht nur der ersten Partition booten). Eine NGFF (M.2) SATA (nicht NVMe) SSD (ev. funktioniert auch eine MSATA SSD) ist aber genau so eine Festplatte, und wenn man sie in ein passendes USB3 Gehäuse steckt auch nicht viel grösser als ein USB-Stick, aber um vieles schneller und billiger als ein WTG fähiger USB-Stick.Hat man nun so einen WTG USB-Stick (genauer eine USB SSD) erzeugt und gebootet, dann braucht man nur noch einen Windows 10 Key um Windows zu aktivieren (ev. aktiviert sich Windows automatisch, wenn es die entsprechenden SLIC Einträge im BIOS findet), wobei ich nicht sagen kann, ab wie viel Boots in verschiedenster Hardware die Aktivierung Probleme macht (dann wäre der "Microsoft Toolkit" bei der Behebung hilfreich).

Ich habe diese Festplatte gekauft um ein Medion Akoya E6416 mit Core I3 Prozessor mit einer SSD zu versehen, aber nach öffnen des Gerätes musste ich feststellen, dass der Schacht zwar vorhanden war, der m.2 Anschluß auf dem Board aber fehlt. Diesen gibt es wohl nur bei der Core I5 Variante.Also mußte eine andere Lösung her. Eine vorhandene „normale“ 2,5“ SSD wurde anstatt der Festplatte eingebaut, die alte Platte als Massenspeicher in einem Caddy in den DVD Schachtverfrachtet und das DVD Laufwerk kam in ein externes Gehäuse. Um die M.2 SSD doch noch verwenden zu können habe ich mir den „StarTech SAT32M225 M.2 NGFF SSD to 2.5in SATA Adapter Converter“ hier bei Amazon besorgt, beides zusammengefügt und dann in den Desktop eingebaut dem ich die SSD für den Medion entnommen hatte. In das Notebook direkt wollte ich diese Zusammenstellung nicht einbauen, da der Converter kein geschlossenenes Gehäuse besitzt , die SSD also recht ungeschützt ist. Der Einbau ging dann auch recht zügig, alles passte einwandfrei und das Laufwerk wurde sofort im Bios erkannt und funktioniert jetzt einwandfrei.Ich habe nicht gemessen, aber der Zugriff auf die Daten erscheint mir jetzt noch schneller als mit der alten SSD. Liegt vielleicht aber auch am frisch aufgesetzten Windows 10…..Es wäre wahrscheinlich einfacher und günstiger gewesen, die SSD direkt zurückzugeben und eine komplette 2,5““ SSD zu bestellen, aber manchmal packt einen das Bastelfieber….. 

Ich habe die Karte in ein Acer VN7 571G zusätzlich als Windows und wichtige Programme Festplatte eingebaut. Ging alles ohne Probleme, auch die Windows installation war einfach zu tätigen. Hatte die Karte am Anfang nur nicht richtig in den Slot reingedrückt, da hab ich vergeblich die Karte dann vergeblich im BIOS gesucht, schön blöde ;)Nach 4 Sekunden ist Windows fertig gestartet und auch einige Programme können daran nichts ändern, SSD ist einfach ein Erlebniss und läuft seit 3 Wochen ohne Probleme.Die genaue Geschwindigkeit hab ich noch nie gemessen, aber so schnell wie das alles von statten geht, kann man eh kaum reagieren.Wer diese Karte bei sich einbauen kann....macht das.Preisleistungsverhältniss ist zudem auch top.Klare Kaufempfehlung.Nicht vergessen das eine kleine Schraube zur Fixierung notwendig ist. Ich habe einfach eine 'überflüssige' aus dem Notebook genutzt, kann aber nicht die Endlösung sein :)------------------------------Nach 2,5 Jahren Dauernutzung mal ne Info.Der Computer startet zwar nicht mehr so schnell wie früher, aber nach höchstens 10 Sekunden kann man bereits surfen. Also nur unwesentlich langsamer geworden. Dabei habe ich immer noch das gleiche Windows (also ohne neu aufsetzen) laufen.Ansonsten läuft die Karte noch einwandfrei, die erst nur als Notlösung geklaute Schraube hält immer noch und ist nicht zum fehlen gekommen.Leider passt nur eine Karte rein, ich hätte mir gerne noch eine geholt :D
