Amazing Quality for an Amazing Price!
I read the reviews and decided to give these a shot. I wanted the Bose but the price was hard to swallow. Especially considering the flimsy build of the Bose. For $300-$400 Bose could at least build something that feels like it will last a few years. The reviews of these were pretty thorough and positive. The consensus was sound quality superior to Bose fake bass boost, construction superior, noise canceling not as good as Bose but works. I opened the box and the case was very nice, very solid. The phones have a removable wire which allows the user to easily replace the part that is most likely to break. Bose makes these fragile wires that can't be soldered so we have to send them in for a charge repair. I don't appreciate that from Bose. They come with multiple cables including one that works with my iPhone. The construction was indeed durable. I put in batteries and tried them out. I was astonished! If they aren't as good as the Bose, they are 90%. Sound quality was clean and natural. Bass handled well. For the price...these are an unbelievable deal! My negatives are few. First, I am a big guy with a really big head and big ears. I expand these to their largest size and they are still slightly small on my giant 7 3/4 sized head. They work for me but I wish they had one more click. The other negative to me is that the pads around the ears are a little small for my big ears. The Bose has a slightly larger circle and fit me a little better. If these two were a little bigger I could wear those all day. As it is I can go a couple hours but my ears start to hurt. If you're an average sized person they should be fine. All in all...these are one heck of a value.

Good value for money for a decent ANC headset
I fly ~200k miles a year and bought the Audio Technica ANC7b with which I'm very satisfied. I mainly use it for cutting out noise because I want to sleep on a plane. The time I use audio with cable is limited to the time when they are serving meals. Here my impressions. Content. The box contains: - headset - hard-case - audio- cable - 2 adaptors - AAA battery Build quality (8/10): They feel robust and well made. How they will keep up in the long ron we will see. I like the clean, technical looks. Reminds me of 'Lenovo/Thinkpad' design. Not fashionable, but pro. Audio quality (8/10): From my use (only on airplane) they do sound decent. Keep in mind I did not buy them for their audio quality, but I have no complaints here. I watched a movie and was very satisfied with ANC on. With ANC off you can still use them but you have to crank up the volume quite a bit. Active noise cancelling (8.5/10): The reason I bought them for. Before buying the 7b's I tested the lauded Bose qc25 and qc15. I would rate Qc25 - best, covers low-to-high frequencies very effectively. Low amount of white noise perceived. 10/10. 300$ Qc15 - very good. Similar wide range of cancelling, but more white noise. 8/10. I saw them for $249. ATH-ANC7b - very good. Covers more of lower frequencies (plane sounds) and some mid to higher frequencies, but keeps white noise low. In the beginning I rated them at 7.5/10. But the longer I own them the more satisfied I am with the quality of sleep I get on planes. The white noise is very lean so I do sleep well. Comfort (7.5/10): After a while, you just feel them on your head. Keep in mind these are 'around the ear'. The padding is nice and soft, but they are not as light as other models. Nevertheless, I usually keep them on during the whole flight (even on 12h flights). One detail: these do not fold, so the volume required to carry them along in their protective hard-case is significant. Summary (8/10): If you are looking for a headset to cancel out noise because you want to get some sleep on a plane, get these (or the QC15/QC25). I would not settle for less. For my taste the audio quality is great, but that's where your personal taste defines what is suitable to you or not. *** UPDATE March 2018 *** I've been using these the last couple of years. While they are holding up well, one earpad tore and I replaced it by a cheap pad found on Amazon. I then decided to buy the Bose QC20 and QC25 just to compare on white noise, noise cancellation and comfort: White noise: ANC7B: minimal 9/10 QC20: significant 6/10 QC25: present 7/10 Noise cancellation: ANC7B: 7.5/10 QC20: 9/10 QC25: 10/10 Comfort: ANC7B: 7.5/10 QC20: 8.5/10 (I can actually sleep with them on, I lie sideways) QC25: 8.5/10 softer than ANC7B So I am still happy with them.

READ IF YOU HAVE IPHONE 5 OR NEWER
So, first and foremost, if you are connecting these to an iPhone 5 or newer which is running on 4G or LTE networks, these headphones will produce a loud crackling noise that makes them unusable. It may also have problems with other cell phones using the faster networks but I can not confirm. I did contact Audio Technica about this and they indicated that this is a design issue in all their current line of noise cancelling headphones when used on iPhones. Thus, if you are in the market for noise cancelling headphones and will be using it with your iPhone or other cell phones using a high speed cellular network, I would suggest staying away from AT. However, if you are using these on a plane or not connected to a cell phone when it is on a 4G/LTE network, these are pretty good bang for the buck. I bought these before a trip I just returned from to Asia where I had two 13 hour flights and one 5 hour flight and used these the majority of the time. They do a pretty good job of noise cancelling, sound decent and are fairly comfortable. Now, when I was in China, I picked up a pair of Bose QC15 for cheap (appear to be real!) and I compared the Bose and AT on the flight home and here are my thoughts on my comparison. Bose has the edge in all areas. The Bose are much more comfortable for longer durations, slightly better in noise cancelling and better in sound quality. Also, I don't have a big head and for the AT's, I have them adjusted as far as they go and it is just about right. Thus, if you have a big head, these will probably not fit. Feel free to post comments/questions and I will respond.

Great price, works a charm. PRO: * sound isolation removes the background distraction. Doesn't completely remove it but enough to take the edge off it. Seems to remove all the wind noise (great for listening while walking along a windy beach) * separate cable. Can't stress how great this is. I've owned a number of headphones where the cable has broken and it's been a real pain to fix. Here simply plug in a new one * to me it sounds great * easy as battery replacement. I use rechargeables. Be nice to be able to charge it via USB but then there'd be no option to quickly swap out a fresh set of batteries (unless it recharges the rechargeables) * fairly comfortable CON: * the mic/phone-control upgrade is a bit of a have. Only has a single button in it, no possibility to use it to shuffle tracks forward/back, adjust volume. I'd recommend getting a third party phone cable (for an android phone) * minor issue is that the right side ear piece, which contains the battery case, keeps catching on the frame. Need to ensure this is properly shut (it tends to open a bit). Small improvement would be to add a more definite close/click/lock mechanism Overall, very happy with this purchase. Does a great job for what I paid. Recommend for anyone who doesn't want to spend twice as much.

Great Value, great product
Replacing old Bose QC headphones. Wanted noise cancelling + wired. Great sound experience and the noice cancelling was perfect for my home office environment (dogs, fan, printer, noise from a gravel driveway). I have not flown with them yet but based on these first impressions, my expectations are high that they will work well. Note: They come with a triple A battery for the noise cancelling. I did not see that mentioned in the product literature I reviewed so wondered how they were powered. I do know I did not need yet another USB charger with some proprietary cable :). Overall, very pleased with everything from the package, included connectors/wires and of course the overall price/performance.

Poor quality
I bought these headphones because I had owned the predecessor to this model for almost ten years and absolutely loved them. They were a great alternative to the expensive Bose headphones that are out there. I replaced my old ones since they broke and were unable to be fixed. These replacements have proven to be a completely different experience (and not in a positive way) than my old pair. In barely over a year of ownership one of the ear pads has torn. Additionally, the audio quality seems to have gone downhill. The balance between the two ear pieces fades back and forth (including the noise cancelling strength), making them practically useless and a pain to use.

Line noise makes these unusable. I choose Bose and I like them better.
LINE NOISE: I had to return these because of line noise. It could have been the headphone cord picking up Bluetooth signals or other electronic interference, but there were constantly little burps and zaps on the line that we very irritating. Also be aware that while having the iPhone remote and mic on the cord was an improvement over their standard headphones, the remote does not have a volume control. Also, it's difficult to talk on the phone with these on using the mic because you can't hear yourself talk. It's very weird. This problem doesn't happen with the Bose headphones. QUALITY/COMFORT: I had to return my last pair of QuietPoints because the left speaker stopped working after about a month. So I've gone through two sets of these. Both sets left my ears a little hot and plugged-up feeling after a few hours. Also, I wear glasses, and the headphones pressed against the sides of the glasses and made my head hurt after a while. NOISE CANCELING: I did wear these on a flight from New York to Israel in coach, which was noisy. These headphones were a godsend and canceled out a lot of the engine noise and the noise of people talking, although the bulky profile made it difficult to rest my head even a little bit to one side. I had to sit/sleep facing directly forward if I was going to use the headphones. COMPARISON WITH OTHER BRANDS: I went to both the Bose and Sony stores at my local mall and tested them against these headphones. The Bose headphones were the most comfortable and had the best noise canceling. The Audio-Technicas have slightly better/richer sound. The $500 Sony noise-cancelling headphones had great sound, but you can feel the inner electronics up against your ears. Also, they were $500 plus tax. They sure looked cool though. lol. I ended up buying the tried-and-true Bose headphones because they were comfortable, didn't hurt my head even with glasses on, had a volume control on the remote, had a low profile, had great noise canceling and acceptable sound, and were only about $120 more than the Audio-Technicas, which, as I've said, I couldn't use because of the line noise.

Pretty satisfied with my purchase. I did a lot of research on headphones and didn't want to go the Bose or Beats-by-Dre route. PROS: - Excellent sound quality - Noise cancelling function (can be used with or without music) - Sturdy storage case - Comfort level (I use these 5 days a week for 4+ hours/day) - In-line remote and microphone (I have an iphone and can pause, play, ffw, rew, skip music) CONS: - BIGGEST CON: The in-line remote and microphone does NOT have a volume adjustment function. BOOOOOOOO!!!!! - Initially, I experienced a lot of static while listening to music. Tried to pinpoint the source (unsuccessfully) and thought it might be due to (a) the headphone wire touching itself when there was excess slack in the line (b) Cellular signal interference NOTE: I only experience the static when I have the noise cancelling function turned on. I discovered that if you turn it off, then back on, it "usually" fixes the problem. - Can't use a rechargeable AAA battery in the headphones Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with my purchase and would consider buying them again.
