I have been using this for months.  Now it gets extremely hot to the touch and have moved everything off.  Is this happening to anyone else?

We purchased a batch of these for our IT department last month, and every one of them gets super hot when plugged in for more than a few minutes. We had one stick that was plugged in runing a data backup while the team went out for lunch. When they got back an hour later, the tech who when to unplug it burned his finger upon touch.

The 256gb ultraluxe i just got is a much much tighter fit in a usb port than any other usb stick i've ever used. any recent buyer: is that typical?

What I've noticed recently, is that USB sticks and USB ports both, in some cases, tighter then earlier ones. The most recent USB stick I bought fits tightly in old USB ports, as well as new ones, and the ports one my new laptop and my new desktop both, are a tighter fit for both old and new USB sticks.

As to the read speed given in an earlier answer, I wonder if that person is using a USB 2 port? That, I think, is much more likely than the stick being so slow--these are SanDisk, after all, not some no-name ripoff...unless someone's selling us fakes, but given the number of positive reviews, I'd say no way. When my 512 GB USB stick arrives, I'll check it out...it's very important to me to get the higher speeds, which is part of why I chose this one.

Will this work as storage expansion for the xbox series x/s ?

Microsoft's Xbox Series X and S consoles have specific requirements when it comes to using expandable storage. Titles that are optimized for Xbox Series X|S and Velocity Architecture can be stored on USB 3.0 drives but can only be played on the internal PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD or the external Seagate SSD carts. Games that aren't optimized, such as Xbox One, Xbox 360, and original Xbox games, can be installed and played off of USB 3.0 external drives larger than 128GB. 
As for why Microsoft is not allowing games that are optimized for Xbox Series X|S to be played on USB 3.0 drives, there's a reason for that - speed. While USB 3.0 external hard drives are fast, they're a far cry from speeds that have been noted for the Xbox Series X|S.
