Easy, no problems. Strategy might make it easier
Worked well to change up the three in-line pins to a 1 on top, 2 on bottom pin arrangement. I had the best luck putting the adapter onto the back of the new smoke alarm and then plug the existing connector into that. Getting the new adapter to click in to the alarm requires strong thumbs and it's awkward to try to do it while standing on a ladder, sweating and holding onto two things at once. Get the adapter into the alarm and then go about connecting.

Works great with old FireX wired smoke detectors
Adapter works perfectly with my old fireX hardwired smoke detectors. Bought new Kiddie. Did have to replace the bracket but thankfully the holes lined up to the old one but did not have to do any new wiring thank goodness. One accidental kitchen fire is enough I did not need the fire department back out for an exit in the wi did have to replace the bracket but thankfully the holes lined up to the old one but did not have to do any new wiring thank goodness. One accidental kitchen fire is enough I did not need the fire department back out for an Accidental electrical fire.

Worked as advertised. Easy to use.
I purchased these to adapt my new Kidde smoke detectors to my wiring from my old Firex smoke detectors. These were much cheaper than hiring an electrician to rewire the connectors. These adaptors were relatively easy to install.

Great product with slight modification
I purchased this adapter to replace my old FIREX 120-538B hardwire fire alarm with new FIREX 21007581 hardwire fire alarm. It's a great product that would have gotten five stars if it wasn't for a modification I had to make to get it to work for me. I'll start with the summary first, then go to the details.PROS: - Quality Construction - The plastic used is sturdy and strong. Not weak or flimsy like cheap plastic can be. - Attachment Clips Are Great - These adapters have tabs that will lock in place ensuring a quality connection that holds. This is a great touch because I've had fire alarms get disconnected when I push the wires into the ceiling when mounting it to the roof in the past. These tabs will ensure it the connection doesn't accidentally fall out.CONS: - I had to modify the adapter to fit the power connection in the ceiling.First off, this product is a great adapter. It's build with quality materials and the design offers safety improvements that I really liked such as the connection clips with squeeze tabs for easy removal when needed. Unfortunately, one of these new features prevented a good connection with my specific wiring that I needed to remove to be able to use this product. The side of the adapter that connects to the power wire running from the ceiling has an alignment tab on top of the plug. This tab is to make it easier to align a good fit with the female end when installing. However, for my particular plug that fit the FIREX 120-538B, this tab would hit the housing of the plug and prevent the adapter from connecting properly. I knew it wasn't an install issue I was making after troubleshooting the issue because the alignment with the center tab over the housing was bending the connection pins to the point of breaking and never reaching far enough for the securing tabs on the side to click. So, I took a box cutter and roughly cut that tab off flush to the mount. You can see the adjustment I made in my first photo (original to the left - adjusted to the right). After this tab was removed, the adapters clipped easily, securely and are working great.

Super easy to use
I don’t write a lot of reviews but I was very impressed with how easily I was able to replace my old Firex smoke detector with a new one. The adapter made it a piece of cake! You just plug it in, switch the base and it’s ready to go. . I literally spent 10 minutes changing out two alarms.

Two Different Sizes in the "2 pack"
At first, I was very impressed with how easy it was to use this KA-F converter to replace my Firex with a Kidde. THEN, I tried to use the second adapter in the package only to find it is a KA-B2. Completely useless. WHY would they put two different adapters in the same package? It was a 2-pack, but only one was useful to me.I also purchased a 6 pack and all six of them were wonderfully easy to use.

Works great for our application
We needed to replace a Firex FADC (120-1182C) smoke alarm with a new Kidde i4618AC Firex smoke alarm. This KA-F adapter plugs onto the new smoke alarm and accepts the three prong AC connector that had been supplied with the old smoke alarm. Essentially, it saves you from having to put a new connector on the existing wiring. If you like working over your head on a ladder, you can save a few bucks by replacing the connector instead of using this adapter. Note that the adapter is about 1/2 inch thick and will intrude a bit into the wall or ceiling. If there is already too much wiring squished into the space, you could be in trouble.

NOT LIKE THE PHOTO!
These are the adapter for my new Kidde i4618AC units I used to replace the original 120-1182 detectors. While these are the correct units, they are not as pictured. (Current picture shows 2 molex type connectors with wire between them, overall length of unit depicted is ~ 2.5 inches/6-7cm.) The actual units I received were the two small round type connectors. These smaller, more compact adapters worked better than the larger type depicted as these do not need to be folded/stuffed up into the fixture. As you can see from the last image, if you have the space in your outlet fixture to stuff the longer cable, they work fine. If not, the smaller button size take up less space on the back of the smoke detector.
