Great replacement part.
I had broken my other one. This was so cheap and of the quality I needed. I bought two right away.

Works as expected
Ordered 2 and they both showed up and worked well. The only problem was they had no protection for the pins and many got bent.

bought this to power a raspberry pi 3b with a 7 inch touch screen from a 12v wall wart I cant get the rated 3 amps out of this, meter says about 1.7amps and 4.9 volts. It also gets very hot with only 12v input.Wont power my Pi with the screen hooked up. Pi also reports the voltage is too low.

Worked ok at first, but be careful what you connect it to.
Worked well for a few minutes, got a constant 5.0V, but after a few minutes something went (no explosions or magic smoke or anything) and now it still provides 5V regulation but no matter what I only get a max 85mA current out of it. I may have caused this though by trying to draw too much power from it though since I had 5 high torque servo connected to it.

25V input maximum!
The wiki describes the lm2596 as 40V input rating. Sunfounder doesn't say anywhere that they did it cheap and spec'd a 25V cap on the input side.I did give an extra star for the impressive pop that the cap gave when I ran it on 34vdc.

Good value for the money
Good value for the money. Description states that input voltages as high as 40 volts are allowed, but capacitor on the input side is only rated for 25 volts, so I can't use these for the project I planned. I have another project I can use them on, however, so will keep them.

Input capacitor not 40v rated
this is a very nicely put together board however if you want to use an input voltage over 20-ish volts don't expect the input capacitor to hold up as its only 25v rated. My project has a 36v input from a bank of LiPo batteries and the input cap popped quite spectacularly. If I need a 5v regulator in the future I will probably go for more of these despite the aforementioned issue simply due to their small size and good layout.
