If you want softer curls or waves, this product works really great. I use it as a prewash mask. It seems counterproductive but this is essential if you end up curls that lack volume after a wash. You mainly need to cleanse your scalp anyway and by covering the rest of your hair in a hair mask prevents the shampoo from totally stripping your curly hair of its natural shine. My main reason if using this before a wash is to detangle my hair before washing. Detangling with shampoo supposedly damages curly hair and I don’t want to take the risk. The price is right for me that I don’t feel bad using a handful of it every time. If you have curls, you’ll still need to condition and add another layer of leave in product after a wash if you want minimum frizz but I like the way this works as a pre wash and detangler. As a reference, my hair is somewhere in between 2C and 3A. Oils weigh it down too much.
