Shot through the Heart (DVD)History runs deeper than friendship- and blood runs deeper than both. Two friends (Linus Roache & Vincent Perez), each a champion marksman, have been inseparable since childhood, but the collapse of their nation divided by civil war in a ruthless, bloody struggle for independence and power. Almost overnight, neighbors and families once united are torn apart-and two best friends themselves on opposite sides of a deadly line. One turns sniper for the enemy-the other, almost, stays to defend his community. Now, in a war where so many innocents have fallen, and so many more must fall, two best friends are forced to pull the trigger. Only one will feel the bullet, but both will feel the pain.]]>

Good movie which illustrates the saddest feature of the Third Balkans War--friend vs. friend.
There are plenty of good synopses of this movie on line (e.g. imdb.com), so my review will just concentrate strictly on my feelings about the movie:First, there are some very difficult, bloody, and violent scenes, including a very quick, but graphic rape sequence, so it is not suited for younger viewers. Yet those scenes are not gratuitous--they bring home the absolute cruelty of this last Bosnian war. In general, I thought they presented the horrors of that war quite realistically and were justifiably included.Second, the film shows how terrifying innocent civilians became the main tool for "ethnic cleansing", in this case, the Muslim community of Sarajevo. Realistically, they show Bosnian Muslims with blond hair and blue eyes and looking nearly identical to their Bosnian Serb friends and, in many cases, relatives. In that way, the subsequent violence seems even more senseless. Finally, that leads me to my only gripe about the film--the transition of one of the "friends" into a cold-blooded assassin in just a few weeks. Had the director been able to more clearly show why this transition occurred, it would have gone from a good film to a great one. What we have here, however, is a transition that doesn't quite seem reasonable. It's too fast and not enough background. There is just a hint--after the rape scene, when the "Serbian friend" does not seem particularly moved and simply notes that his family faced the "same thing forty years ago", presumably talking about the second world war. More development by the director of this inner rage would have helped us to accept the film's conclusion much better. If that explanation seems too diffuse, I apologize, but giving away any more would be a spoiler--and the film's final moments are dramatic.Bottom line: a very good, but not great film, but one that deserves to be seen.

Great Price, Product, And Fast Shipping!!!
Terrific movie, great drama and suspense, along the lines of the Sniper series of movies...Based on a true story, 2 sharpshooters train for competition, but war puts them against each other as top snipers for their forces!!!I had forgotten that one of the actors later played the Assistant District Attorney on Law & Order before the show ended. I never put it together, until I recently looked him up on Wikipedia!!! Lmao!!!...

This Film Shot Me Through the Heart!!!
For the plotline in a nutshell, I am quoting the "Product Description" as shown on the Amazon Webpage for this film. Here it is..."Two friends, each champion marksmen, are on opposite sides in war. One turns sniper for the enemy. One remains their town's last line of defense. In a terrible battle for power, two best friends must pull the trigger. Only one will feel the bullet - but both will feel the pain."I was totally blown-away by the writing, the set design and especially by all the Actors. Linus Roache is always a favorite of mine. I have never been disappointed in any role he's played. Vincent Perez gave a slam-bang performance. Every cast member was absolutely perfect!Saying "Goodbye" to a friend is always a difficult thing to do, let alone how the "Goodbye" was delivered takes the finale right up and over the mountain.WOW! What a fantastic film. I am very impressed.

A Film Worth Watching
"Shot through the Heart" is an entertaining film that also provides a valuable insight into the siege of Sarajevo, the longest European siege since World War II. The film accurately depicts the deadly risk of shelling and snipers that befell the Sarajevo residents for forty four months while the international community did nothing. It does not take sides; instead it focuses on showing that all residents--whether Muslim or Serb--were equally exposed to the suffering of war. I recommend this film but I suggest that you briefly familiarize yourself with the Bosnian War and the siege of Sarajevo (Wikipedia should be more than enough) before watching it. And be warned: you will come to care for all the main characters, meaning that your heart will break a bit because of what happens to them, and you'll have a sense of what that terrible time in Bosnian history was like.

Good movie.
A good movie that did a good job of not choosing sides. But let you know just how fast things can go bad. That country had many of the same freedoms that we had30 years ago. But in a period of a couple of years afterhaving the wrong people in power turned into a real hellhole. Pay attention! This could happen anywhere we havethe wrong leadership and a lazy population more interested intheir cable TV than what is going on in Washington.

A film classic about the worst kind of Wars?
Director David Attwood has made this film starring Linus Roache as Vlado and Vincent Perez as Slavko into one of the GREAT war films of the last 30 years because while the film is based almost entirely in a small geographical area of Sarajevo itself, the content of it is enthralling.Vlado and Slavko, friends since childhood are both training for the Olympics hopefully to be included in their countrys team for Rifle Shooting at which they are both Champions, their country finally having been accepted for entry.Unfortunately, before the Olympics begin the War breaks out in what WAS Yugoslavia between Serbians and Muslims who were friends and like family and brothers for decades or longer when the Leaders of both groups declare the other inferior and that one should be subserviant to the other!Slavko as a Serbian is forced to enlist and train soldiers to be Marksmen while Vlado tries to stay alive with family and friends in the city? Ordinary people men, women, children with no age limit - all become targets of the Marksmen as they try to move around whilst holed-up in their bombed out city and flats. An extremely moving story made more so by the fact it is based on a true-story!Lothaire Bluteau,Lia Williams,Adam Kotz and Soo Garay co-star.

Good!
It's a good movie which I quite enjoyed. However with this story a much better movie could have been made. Being from the place where the story happens, I have noticed a few factual mistakes.

Und schon wieder
Das ist Eine ernüchternde Film im Herzen Sarajevos. Es macht mich unheimlich traurig, dass wir schon wieder auf dem Weg sind so etwas anzurichten.
