It Works!
I have this unit in my basement very close to the water heater. I placed it on the floor on the side of the heater that is closest to the floor drain. If the heater lets go the H2O will run to the sensor. My heater is 15 years old and although it working fine I would like to catch the problem asap. In addition my washer and dryer are right above where the water heater sits. So if one of the washer hoses leaks the water will go through the floor right above the water heater and I'll be covered there too. I have tested this thing several times pouring water on the floor and letting it run to the sensor. I have always gotten a sms on my mobile phone within 2 to 3 minutes. It also has a low battery indicator and will send an sms saying "low battery" which just went off the other day. Finally, the range seems to be excellent too! The sensor is in the basement and the receiving unit which is plugged into my wireless router is on the second floor of my home. It had no problem receiving the signal through all the floors. Hook up was easy and fast, it connected the first time and as yet has never failed. I test it about once a month and it always works. I've had it for about 3 months. Hopefully you know that you have to buy the receiving unit too that hook into your router which then sends the signal over the internet to your desktop, laptop, or smartphone.

Good product, good but slow customer service
I wrote a review on the complete kit which included the Gateway. For this sensor to work you will need a Gateway. This review is on a extra sensor I purchased.Overall it is a good system. It is easy to set up and easy to access via the internet.I have used the system for over a month. I have it set to report every 5 minutes. It is easy to download the data into Excel where playing with the data I saw the vast majority of updates are 5 minutes apart, with a few 10 minutes apart and a couple at 25 minutes and one at 30 minutes. Even at 30 minutes I'm confident if the heat went off I would receive and respond to an alert well before the house temperature dropped to the point of pipes freezing and busting. For reference I'm in NH where it was -12F a few nights ago. On the water side every minute counts if it is a major pipe bursts but even 30 minutes is much better than being gone all day (or all week on a trip). The odds are very good the alert would be within 5 minutes. Also if it was a water heater starting to seep or a rising water table and a defect sump pump even 30 minutes would be fine. While the product is well made La Crosse at this time seems to be suffering from either growing pains, or worst, business issues. If it is growing pains they will get past it. I say this for the following reasons: many of the Alert products are out of stock, their server is slow to update the sensor data on occasion, and customer service is very slow and their messages brief to the point of not making sense. One of 4 sensors had a invalid activation code, once resolved (1 week) it would not report temperature. I completed the on-line customer service request with Gateway and serial numbers, my address, etc. and received 3 e-mails. All one incomplete sentence; "check the battery, what model number?", "what's your address", and 3rd "a replacement was mailed keep defective sensor". I didn't even have to send the defective unit back. Overall it was a 3 week process. In summary it is a well made product with an easy to use interface, and their customer service stands behind the product. I recommend the system, It will likely be working within half an hour of opening the box, but have time and patience should you need customer service.

Works well didn't break the bank
I have several sensors in three different homes. I monitor temps, humidity and wet/dry locations. They can be tricky to get set up sometimes and customer support is pretty much non existent. But for the money and a little patience they are great, always worked for me for the last six years. Just put one in my AC pan to monitor a wet location, if the secondary pan gets water in it I get a pretty quick notification on my phone there is a problem with the AC overflowing. A real piece of mind for about $26.00 for the sensor its a little more if you need the gateway also. A cheecp $11 per year per device for real time notifications. Not a must have if you just look at the sensor app with your phone each day or so.

Quick alert of water or temperature issues at home.
This is working well and gives piece of mind while away from the house, to check any signs of water in the basement. The temperature reading will also give you an alert of the furnace not working during the winter, and dropping the temperature. The first sensor was incorrectly reporting a wet condition after a few days of use. It was returned to Amazon and a replacement was quickly sent (even before the return was sent). It has now been installed about a month and all is good. You can set alerts to be received by email, as well as check the status online. Ours is connected to the gateway, and we are using the additional sensor on an upper floor for temperature reporting as well. So far, we are very pleased.

Would be happy to pay double for a real system
Half these don't work. I'm on third sensor. Cheap stuff. Would be happy to pay double for a real system.

Ideal for remote monitoring
These work great! I now have four at various indoor and outdoor locations. They are especially handy for checking on the temps in the winter when away.

No reading in Celsius
This is a handy product to monitor temperature, humidity and water leaks from your mobile. However, there is no way to change the reading to Celsius which I find very strange. Perhaps a software fix is needed!

Stopped working properly after a few days
Seemed to work fine when first received. Tested water detection with drops of water and it worked. A few days later I got a wet alarm but when I checked everything was fine. Checked for any water, cleaned sensor, unplugged and plugged it back in, took batteries out to reset, and it showed 'dry' again. This lasted for less than 5 minutes and it has shown 'wet' ever since.
