What does this smell like?

HORRIBLE SMELL. If you're sensitive to strong, musky, perfume scents (as in, the ones that typically trigger migraines), AVOID THIS. Aveeno can usually be trusted, but this was just a huge fail. I had to shower after putting this on, and the smell still lingered, causing an all-day migraine. No thank you. And for those of you NOT sensitive to these smells, please be aware that many people around you ARE, and this particular scent is very migraine inducing. (It is typically called vanilla, but smells nothing like actual vanilla. It's disgusting.)

Is this transparent and does it dry to a matte finish?

It's an opaque white coming out of the bottle similar to lotion. Once you rub in and your skin absorbs and dries then it will look transparent and matte. I haven't felt this gives my face a shine. Great extra facial protection from the sun.

Is this sunscreen reef-safe?

This is a nice sunscreen for most activities. It is paraben and oxybenzone free, but it does not advertise as being reef safe. There are now many other sunscreens that do.
