Excellent, detailed documentary of the genius who was Gerry Anderson. An absolute must for people of my age who were so lucky to grow up with these unique companions through the years.

I initially held off buying this because I expected that "Filmed in Supermarionation" would be just a collection of behind the scenes silent clips. Was I wrong! It is a wonderful tour through the origins and development of the entire suite of Gerry & Sylvia Anderson marionette series from Four Feather Falls up to The Secret Service, hosted by the inimitable Parker and Lady Penelope. Even the copyright theft warning is delivered in person by Parker. The joy of it is that it captures the spirit of the times, the people and the circumstances that caused each series to be made. It is beautifully edited and presented, and it is hard to stop watching it, once you have started.I first saw it on Satellite TV, but loved it so much I really wanted the blu-ray. I only bought it for "Filmed in Supermarionation", blythely thinking "This is Supermarionation" would be an earlier and lesser version of the same (i.e. an extra I wasn't bothered about).However, to my surprise, the latter disc contains a high def episode from each series (again from Four Feather Falls right up to The Secret Service) - which is a lovely way to round out the pack, - as is the inclusion of some of the supermarionation-themed TV adverts from the age in which these series were originally broadcast.A wonderful trip down memory lane for anyone who grew up during those years, and a very good explainer for anyone wondering what all the fuss was about.

I was initially disappointed by the main feature Filmed in Supermarionation as it is merely a history of the studio and not the behind the scenes detailing the 'making of' process that I would have liked. Nevertheless it is very entertaining. It's impossible to imagine that such groundbreaking and extraordinary work could take place today. It's also quite sad to see just how the Century 21 shows became much lesser affairs after the pinnacle of Thunderbirds (to which the feature dedicates most of it's run-time).I was very grateful that the second disc This is Supermarionation was included in the set. I may not have ordered it had it been a separate purchase. This stuff is 60's TV gold and is presented pretty much as an evening watching your favourite shows complete with commercial breaks featuring original Anderson themed ads for Kellogg's Sugar Smacks and Lyon's Maid Zoom etc.The total run-time for this set is about 6 hours which represents fantastic value for money and is recommended for a great dose of nostalgia.

A step back in time back to my childhood and now sheer joy to watch with my grandson ….. yes strings attached 😂

I'm sure there will soon be hundreds of enthusiastic reviews on here from other satisfied customers, so I'll keep mine brief.This two disc blu ray set includes a brand new documentary, Filmed in Supermarionation, on one disc. Great to see so many of the crew reunited and the late Gerry Anderson's son Jamie speaking so lovingly & enthusiastically about his father's work. The documentary lasts just under two hours & is really well put together. I'm sure even non-fans would find it interesting! The second disc, This is Supermarionation, includes one episode each of eight Supermarionation shows made between 1960 & 1969. They are all in Full HD & have never looked better. Thanks to Network for making this available and marketing it at a low price. When are the full season BD box sets coming? Everyone should have a copy of this in their collection! Highly recommended. By the way, I don't regard myself as a Gerry Anderson anorak!

A fantastic documentary dvd about the history of Thunderbirds and the Jerry Anderson film company. I have always been a fan ever since childhood but just seeing the development and evolution of the art style was so fascinating. It comes as a two disc blu ray and is a compelling watch from start to finish. Even if you are not a fan of Jerry Anderson or puppet shows the design aspects of this program are fascinating. I would really recommend this to anyone. Fantastic buy.

Nostalgia at its best. I enjoyed the time line (through all of the tv series) from inception in the 1950s to its demise in the late 1960s, which documented home movies interspersed with visits to old studios, and details of supermarionation, to creation of special effects, and personnal reflections from most of the surviving team. A very enjoyable look back to a special moment in time.The second DVD uses HD technology for selected episodes from all of their known tv series. Its odd that the later series looked more aged than their earlier ones. Possibly a reflection in the transition of the size of the heads to more adult proportions plus some awful scripting. Enjoyable in parts but not to the same degree as the first DVD.

What a fantastic insight into the production of these wonderful series. The filmed in Supermarionation explains each step of how Gerry Anderson and of course his brilliant crew, set out from very humble beginnings with Roberta Leigh ( mostly associated with SPACE PATROL ) onto the generations of the most exciting TV programs of the late 50`s and throughout the 60`s.I would like to say more but it would detract from the enjoyment. To accompany this blu ray disc is "This is Supermarionation" which has episodes from each production.If you have enjoyed Gerry Anderson over the years, You will definitely have plenty of fun watching these.F.A.B Spectrum is Green
