Jacquard Damar Resin - 8 Oz Bag

I use it to make fixative for graphite drawings. My previous purchase was in the flaked form, this is in lump form (crushed) which hopefully will desolve in denatured alcohol, eventually.

Great price. I used this to make encaustic medium and cold wax - making these is a huge savings over store purchased mediums. The damar resin will last me well over a year. There are some impurities, it is resin, after all, but no more than the resin I purchase at the art store, and the cost of this resin was significantly lower and more convenient - delivered to my doorstep!

It’s important to know that this product is not pure and you need to strain your wax after melting with this in it. Unless you don’t mind the extra texture and impurities. Wax should be quite hot when straining and I recommend a never fine mesh cheesecloth for straining. Over all pleased. I add to both bees wax and candle wax for hardening. Might consider adding Caranuba also and comparing results.

Love this stuff. I use it for encaustic painting, and it works wonderfully to create my pigments. This is a natural unfiltered substance, so when you melt it you have to strain out the bits of debris, if you want to make pure pigments.

Made some damar varnish with these. Very happy. 1/3 darmar crystals, 2/3 gum turpentine. Let sit in a glass jar until they dissolve. Pour into another glass jar through some rags or an old t-shirt for straining, and there you have it! :)

Works great for making your own encaustic wax. Plenty of resin, melts great, mixes with beeswax perfectly. Reasonably priced too!
