Your router and modem should work. This will replace your current access point. This will be your sole WiFi point. If that helps.

Does it work with iphone

Works great with my iphone and all other wifi capable devices. I've had the Linksys Velop for about a month now and no connectivity issues - as a matter of fact -- the Linksys Velop system works much better than my former setup using a wifi extender.
