Helps with organizing
I was happy with the clear organized way to record my information. I wish there were more charts.

Do your research prior to starting your chart.
Unsure this will work for me....my grandparents had 6 kids, all aunts and uncles had between 3 and 6 kids. I want to do a complete family genology without having to make chart adjustments or write teeny tiny in order for all info to be recorded.

Great supplement for ancestry research
You can download similar sheets online for free, but they will not give you as big of a space, or as nice of a printout. These are nicely printed, allowing for easy reading and viewing. They also give ample space to fill in names so you don't have to struggle to write tiny letters to squeeze them in.All four of these charts are essentially the same allowing for you to enter in a pedigree. That means just the mother and father of a given person. You could fill out one for yourself and go from there, or you could choose to start with a different relative, like one for each grandparent or a great-grandparent.I chose to do different great-grandparents and used the fan chart for myself. Each of these charts has a line for you to give the chart a number which I use to cross-reference easier. Each person entered also gets a number assigned on the chart, which lets me quickly cross-reference the chart and find the specific person I'm looking for.I use these in conjunction with my research on Ancestry.com. While Ancestry lets me enter more information than these sheets and allows me to track more family, I can only ever see 5 generations at a time. I like that I can quickly use these charts to see further while I'm working with the 5 generations visible on Ancestry. The downside to these charts is that you only see direct parents and no aunts or uncles or cousins. This lets you quickly reference some things, but you'll probably want to use a Family Group sheet with these as well. This company does sell family groups sheets or again, you can download them from most ancestry sites. The other issue is that they are folded and some of the fold lines can interfere with writing when filling out the sheets. These make for easy to use, archival quality ancestry sheets that you can use in offline research or to display of you'd like.

A paper record
This is how it was done before computers. While most genealogists now compile their histories using computer programs designed for that purpose, there is still something to be said for keeping a paper record. Personally, I sometimes find it helpful to have a paper record to look at and better sort out those past generations of people who I never knew. It helps me to have a better understanding of who and when they were. These charts are made of acid free paper so it should last over a long period of time and could be frames without worrying about it decaying in future generations. However, the paper is not super heavy -- about the same as very good quality printer paper. To use the charts you need to write really, really small or the names and info will not fit in most of the spaces provided. I thought the price was pretty high for 4 big pieces of paper but there are not many places where you can get this type of thing now that most people use their computers. Even with the computers this is helpful for keeping track of your family genealogy.
