Very effective dry and wet cleaning. I loved the self clean feature for the brush. I was hoping to have additional spare brush and filter complimentary on the purchase since original are expensive and hard to find. Other than this, the overall performance is excellent.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY
This item is not worth the money. Everything about it is hard - hard to remove the battery, hard to take to pieces (frequently needed) and hard to reassemble. The suction is reasonable when the machine is new but just doesn't last and it soon becomes less than effective and even starts to drop what it's picked up when switched of and, as the head just drops and hangs from the handle. The hose suction is practically non-existent. Having said that, it does make itself useful just as a cordless parked, in the bedroom for instance - or upstairs, for the occasional quick tidy in there over an already reasonably clean carpet and this is the reason why I wanted to buy one again at the price of £66 which is as I had in my basket. When recently I came to check out, the price jumped suddenly to £99 - an extremely underhand way for Amazon to operate. When I contacted them to ask how they could possibly justify this sudden increase of 50%, they didn't want to know, hence, I won't be buying as this machine is JUST NOT WORTH the £99 that Amazon is asking and a disgusting way for Amazon to behave.

Surprisingly powerful cordless vacuum with a great battery!
Bought this vacuum cleaner in April 2017 and, benchmarked against the Dyson V6, I am absolutely delighted with the purchase. The machine works surprisingly well on my deep carpets - far better than what some reviews suggest. It has a 36V battery with 45 min battery life (twice that of Dyson V6), 2 hrs charge time (nearly twice as fast as Dyson V6), 0.9L storage (over twice that of the Dyson), 2 year guarantee, and at a considerably lower cost. You can clearly see the machine I have benchmarked most closely against - the Dyson V6 Animal was on promotion at the time of purchase. Reviews form others are a bit mixed, but maybe they were written for when it was at a much higher price point or by people with the expectations of a corded vacuum, which is unrealistic full stop. I don't know, all I know is it's serving my needs brilliantly. It's not a perfect machine - it's heavier than the dyson and some may not like that you have to remove the battery each time to charge. I prefer the latter solution though as installing a docking station is a hassle, and external charging makes the machine more portable if you want to use in another property. I'd also say the V6 is superior when used as a hose/wand cleaner, but not much. This will do a perfectly good job cleaning your car. It's horses for courses - this machine meets my needs well. This isn't meant to be a Dyson bashing post as they make good machines too.And if you want to true power, well then my research tells me there isn't a cordless machine out there than can compete with the raw power and convenience of a bagged corded vacuum (the likes of Hoover, Sebo, Miele make very good bagged cleaners). So until that perfect cordless solution arrives, this machine is a cracker IMO. It's fulfilling my needs as a single cordless solution for my 3 bed apartment!

Don't buy if you actually want clean floors!
I purchased a Bissell Powerglide 1538A back in April, however I didn't start using it until I moved in May. When I first used the hoover I was really impressed with the suction and power produced by a cordless hoover, however the hose suction was a little disappointing but still usable. Since then the hoover has gone gradually downhill. I am now at the point where I have to clean every part of it after every use, including all the filters and head and even then the suction is seriously reduced and the hose suction is completely non-existent, meaning I have no way of cleaning cobwebs or stairs etc and cannot hoover my car or sofas which was one of my main reasons for purchasing a cordless hoover. This morning, after emptying the hoover and cleaning everything out yesterday, and only hoovering the hallway since, I turned the hoover on only to have it start blowing all the dust and dirt back out of the head blowing it all over the room. I now have to clean the entire living room when I only turned it on to hoover up a few bits under the dining table. Given this hoover is certainly not inexpensive I am really disappointed that after less than 6 months use I now have to purchase a new hoover as I cannot find the time to keep cleaning the hoover after every use and I certainly cannot put up with it dropping the contents of the head every time I turn it on or off.

WORST HOOVER
I bought the Bissell Powerglide 1538A in January because my partner wanted an easy to use cordles hoover. It comes disassambled but is quite easy to put together. When I first used the hoover I was really impressed with the suction and power, also the recharging of the battery works fairly quick. The suction from the hose was the only downside, it worked for cobwebs but for dust and larger object it did not.The hoover worked quite well for around 4 - 6 weeks since the the the performance is first gradually then dramaticly going downhill. The hoover is blocked after every use, it is not possible to clean two or three rooms without unblocking in between. I clean the hoover after every use, almost taking it completely apart and still the suction is severely reduced, the is literally no suction from the hose.I will try to return it, since there is a 2-year warranty.

Brilliant hoover I was so thrilled with the first one ...
Brilliant hoover I was so thrilled with the first one I bought a second. I have a huge farm house and can hoover it all everyday and enjoy doing it, without it costing a penny as I charge the batteries by solar. The only aggravation I have you don't seem to be able to buy spare batteries. Other than that I wouldn't hesitate recommending this to everyone especially those who are cost conscious as well as in the older age group with joint issues.
