Almost perfect small player.
This is my third Sony Walkman mp3 player and the one I like the best. I tried several other brands that failed after a few months of use. All my Sonys have lasted for years of tough use but one uses a proprietary power/data connection and the other a mini usb. All my other devices are micros usb so the micros usb on this one allows me to ditch one more cable. I especially like the long battery life, FM radio capability, sleep timer, and physical lock slide. That allows me to keep my phone on the charger all night. Having only 4 gb memory is no issue as I mainly use it for relaxing just before going to sleep. My Linux OS (PCLOS KDE 5) sees it as mass storage so transfer of files is easy. The only thing I'd wish is the ability to play OGG Vorbis and FLAC files. I can't tell any difference among the many players' sound but can say with confidence the Apple product cost a lot more.

Solid Player! Good Price!!
A solid MP3 player for the price. I don't understand the negative reviews. Read the manual, and you've practically eliminated three-quarters of the complaints (imagine that). Also, you have to understand that flash drive memory doesn't play music back like a CD. You have to understand flash drive hierarchy assignments, which differ from CD assignments. As a result, you can add playlists to the player to order your music by using Sony software on your computer. The player cannot create playlists. Other than that, it plays the music back in alphabetical order, by folder, by artist, or genre. In sum, this player has good sound, it's built fairly strong, and the features are nice. I bought a USB wall charger plug to supplement computer charging. You can also use most cellphone USB wall plug units to charge this unit.

So far so good
If you purchase ANY little mp3 please purchase the warranty. Luckily w this product I have NOT had to call on the warranty but this is the third mp3 I've ordered. The first two were absolute trash ($20-$35). SO far having invested $70 is a good deal. Its a little weird getting use to how to - for example - pause instead to send to next file but the fact that it still works great and the battery life is fantastic, I am pleased.

Walkman 4GB
I really like this little Walkman better than I do my more expensive one, seems to be much clearer and just better listening too. Do wish they would make it easier to delete songs so you could add new ones. Mine have gotten to the place that they only play part of my songs, I have so many.

It is very easy to use, I am not good with electronics, but this was very simple....
I love the size of this! It is perfect for small pockets. I had one before, and my boyfriend took it over. It is so easy to use. I have all my favorite songs on it, and a couple of videos.

Not plug and play
I've used Sony MP3 players many years, I'm very familiar with them. They were always easy-peezy. This one is awful. Nothing works on it. I've gone to blogs and videos and Sony support trying to do lots of assorted instructions on how to make this piece of junk work. Sony isn't any help either. their website is as bad as this product and you cannot get any help there. If you want an exercise in aggravation, this is the way to get it.

Doesn't always work right
I love many features of this mp3 player. It is very small and light, super easy to transfer files to from my computer, and the sound quality is really good, even with cheap earbuds. The only drawback, which unfortunately is a big problem for me, is that it stops playing.I use this to listen to music while I'm working out, so I don't want to fiddle with it. But frequently, it stops and I need to press the Play button again. Then frequently, when I press Play, instead it acts as if I pressed the Back button, and dumps me into settings. And then it can be very hard to get back to Play. I have to stop my workout, and keep trying to get back to Play, but it gets me stuck in a loop that keeps dumping back into Settings. Finally, I have to turn it off then on and start over, and that includes going back to settings, to put it back on Shuffle, then exiting that to get back to Play. I have lost so much time fiddling with it.It's really too bad, as otherwise it is an excellent little player, and if it didn't have this issue, it would be perfect.

Happy to have my Walkman
YES! After messing around with the various kick-off brands (mostly with not even a manual available) and not particularly user menu friendly, I finally paid a little more and got the WalkMan. Sony still does it right. Save yourself from meddling in mediocrity, and grab this unit for just a little extra.
