our second UDI 818a
We bought the non HD version pretty cheap to learn how to fly. And this thing was great for that dropping from the sky and bouncing back to fly again. Decided to get the HD version as the camera is terrible on the original. This lil guy does not like the wind very much because of the prop guards. but It is worth it to know your girlfriend can take it out of range at high altitude and when it falls down wherever, it will probably still work. Great beginner drone that advanced users might find cumbersome. oh and this model had headless whereas the original did not. worth it for that alone.edit: So if this drone gets too far from the receiver it will just drift off on you. we had this happen and the drone fell into the only water in the entire park we were flying in. It floated somehow. I am not sure if this is intended but this one floats. the lights were still on so I grabbed it and un plugged the battery immediately. after drying it for a few hours we did a quick system check in the house and it fired right up. just got back from a flight through 2 batteries with no issues and the video even still works great. would highly suggest for beginner pilots looking for something durable.

Excellent Bang For Buck
First copter I got came with a non-working camera. Took a while but I ended up exchanging it for another one which works fine. In short the copter works great. It's my first one so I don't have much to compare it to but it certainly was easy enough to fly. Only issue as other reviews have noted is that it is hard to control in wind since it is so light. However, it's lightness works to it's advantage when crashing into things. It doesn't hurt what it crashes into too badly and it itself will stay in tact. The flip buttons work and are kinda cool albeit a little gimmicky. The camera is surprisingly decent quality. It works well in well lit conditions (i.e. daytime). I used the copter inside my house (bad idea) in relatively poor lighting and it was pretty grainy.Battery life is only 10 minutes or so per battery but extra batteries are readily available on amazon. I bought 6 for $23 and it comes with a 6 bay charger. With the 2 it already comes with, that should give me 80 minutes or so of fly time.I think this copter gives me the experience to learn how to fly for a low cost so I don't smash up my Phantom 3 should I choose to get one. It is also not a bad way to check your gutters without having to get the ladder out! (I tried including a video but Amazon downscales it so you can't see the quality for real). One thing I suggest getting is an extension pole (I got one from Lowes for $40 that extends to 23 feet). I got mine stuck in a tree on it's maiden voyage about 45 feet up. I had to get a ladder out and use the extension pole to knock it down. I can see this happening a lot if you fly near trees and you are a newbie like me.Only reason I am knocking it down 1 star is because the initial drone's camera didn't work and it took some time to get it all straightened out with the seller. However, all in all I think I'm pretty happy with it!

Perfect beginner drone
Perfect beginner quad copter drone, this thing is pretty dang durable thanks to the prop protections, so you can crash it as much as you like, in fact i did just learning how to fly the thing. The handling is pretty tame, one the first speed, and loose on the second speed if you start getting good at flying. The camera could have been a little better, but it does the job, the quality isn't as good as high end drone of course, and it captures sound but it is mostly the "BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZT" from the props going off. For some odd reason the camera is stuck looking downward instead of straight ahead. The prop protectors may seem "flimsy and loose" but maybe it was design that way to soften hard crashes, but at the same time these things do not like wind. Even the slightest wind will push this drone around, to the point that the dronee may loose control. Other than that, this is a perfect beginner drone.Pros- Easy to handle for newbies- Props are protected well enough from crashes- Awesome exclusive color design- Pretty ok camera for the price- Transmitter is pretty nice- Comes 2 batteries and USB charger- comes with micro memory card and USB converter to trasnsfer videos and pictures- The extending arms that hold that props are METALCons- Flimsy prop protection makes a nice wind sail for the poor drone, some experienced flyers cut them off though- I dont like the exposed white light circuits on the bottom- Batteries feel like they die too fast, id get 2 extra more- Instructions aren't great grammar wise- Camera is stuck looking at a downward angle-Camera captures too much of the prop's "BZZZZZZZT" noises

Batteries only lasted 30-35 seconds
Positives: shipping was fast and packaging excellent and safe. Seller should get 5 stars.Drone in itself seems to work great, it is very quiet and fun to fly. However see negatives about battery life - this only gave 3 star rating.Negatives: We tried out this drone the very first day it arrived, immediately after we fully charged the batteries. While the drone appeared to be working great, the battery lasted only a few seconds. We tried to fully charge again just to test it again, but drone only lasted a few seconds on either of the 2 batteries. We recharged them over and over again and timed the length of operation - it repeatedly kept dying any time after 30-35 seconds of flight time. Takes over an hour to charge for super short flight time reward.Tried to track down manufacturer to see if we can obtain batteries only but phone number is international. May have to return back to Amazon.
