Great for virtual real estate tours!
I'm a realtor and I started working with an out-of-state buyer who required video tours of each home. I took the first few videos on my phone by hand, and they all looked too shaky, with the camera teetering back and forth as I walked through the home, so I decided to purchase a gimbal on my brother's advice (he's a pro photographer). I settled on this model because of the price point and reviews, and I was not disappointed!I've never used a gimbal before, so there was a bit of a learning curve, but even the first home tour video I took with it looked 1000 times better than the ones I took by hand. The battery life is amazing, too! After my initial charge, I was able to shoot at least 10 more houses before it started to get low again. Also, I love the carrying sack it came with. It's very compact and fits in my purse or pocket, so it's perfect for using on the go, and it feels sturdy overall. The part that holds your phone is nice and wide, too, so I'm assuming it would fit a large variety (I have a Pixel 5, and after inserting it, I still had about an extra half inch to work with). The instructions that came with it aren't the best, but if you search the model on YouTube, there are some super helpful videos out there to show you how to use it.10/10 would recommend this gimbal, whether you're a beginner or experienced; it was easy enough for a newbie to figure out, but has many advanced user features, too. And the price point can't be beat for someone who's a first-time user and not ready to invest in a more complex model before they get their "gimbal legs." For my needs, I don't imagine I'll ever require an upgrade. The video I posted with this review is part of an actual tour I gave. It shows how smooth the panning feature is, as well as how the device stops your camera from bouncing/tilting as you're walking around (even on bumpy outside ground).

Good Quality, Smooth, and Stable
I received my Hohem iSteady X gimbal from Amazon about 4 weeks ago and tried it out over 10 different occasions with my Samsung Galaxy S10e. And so far, I am very satisfied with this gimbal.Since I opened the box, I realized that I bought a very good quality product. While charging the gimbal, I started downloading and installing the Hohem Pro app on my Samsung S10e. I was able to quickly pair and connect the gimbal with my phone after fully charged. The activation and registration of the gimbal was simple and straightforward. Within several minutes, I started using the Hohem iSteady X gimbal with my Samsung Galaxy S10e immediately to record videos. I have never used a gimbal before nor never thought it would've made a high quality video so easier!I love this gimbal which is light weight, foldable, and easy to assemble. The balance and feel of the gimbal is very comfortable. It is easy to turn on and I like how quickly it sets up and balances my phone for a quick capture of precious moments. The videos I recorded are smooth and clear. I love the simple one-tap operation to switch between landscape and portrait mode, or shooting and recording. Also, the moment mode provides 7 one-tap movie templates like inception, dolly zoom, time-lapse, panoramas, and smart face-tracking.The overall quality is good, affordable, and it is very easy to use. There are many video tutorials on the Hohem Pro app to help users master the gimbal. After registration, I received the extended warranty of period of 15 months. I’m happy with my Hohem iSteadyX gimbal. I’m convinced that it worth every penny. Highly recommend this to those who like to shoot videos with their phone.

New To Gimbal? Read this
This is my first time with a gimbal. I purchased this Product because I own a company that produces video content for marketing. Additionally, I am an event operations manager for large music festivals like Bonnaroo, Electric Forest, etc so the Gimbal would’ve come in handy for that. Alas, I haven’t been able to try it in this setting yet, but after checking out the product on simple life pleasure I am confident I can leave a thorough review of the product. There are a couple functionalities, so I’ll preface what my review will contain. Learning curve, usability, stability, face recognition, object tracking and other.Learning curve: this product comes with a mass of video tutorials created by the manufacturer. They’re easily accessible in the app the user must download to properly use the gimbal features. I wouldn’t say this it is overly difficult. I picked up a lot by simply observing the product and using it. I recommend watching the videos, as they contain information that I wouldn’t have guessed as a rookie user.Usability: the product is easy to use once I figured it out. I have some complications reaching the buttons without adjusting my hands. This could cause a problem, but the stabilization helps a lot. I learned how to use with both hands for fluid footage. The app makes this thing super accessible to everyone. It makes the usability much higher in my opinion. I’ve not tried anything else, so this is my only frame of reference.Stability: works great! You have to watch the parameters of the device itself. There are limitations to its ability to pan. I assume this is because of the structure of the product. Stability is managed very well while within the parameters of the device function.Face recognition: this was a bit frustrating at first. The camera seeks a moving face, so in a crowd of people, it chose to pic up which ever was best represented (often the closest face) and ignored the user’s desire to lock on a face. After learning a bit about the recognition software through use, I was able to stay in the desired face.Object recognition: essentially useless. If the object wasn’t moving or stopped, the camera stopped following and did not recognize upon moving again. I used this function the least because it was not working well.Other: the product needs some ergonomic fixes and some software tweaking. They sent a tripod and a carrying bag with it which was nice. I was a little disappointed at the battery life.

A sound product with minor issues In the instructions
I wanted this product for making great videos with my kids, and it was great. The one and only time I got it to work... the device itself seems great, sturdy, well made... but the app it requires to work, is garbage. Half of it is in Chinese, and the rest in broken engrish... the device seems to have trouble connecting to the app and if it doesn't connect properly, shuts down in like 5 seconds after you turn it on. Making it very difficult to even figure out what is going on. Hopefully I'll be able to find some solutions online but as of right now I'm worried I just bought an expensive paperweight...Update to review: The problem I was in countering where the gimbal would constantly shut down was due to the fact that 1 of the motion motors on an access of the gimbal was not unlocked you have to make sure that all 3 motion points of the gimbal have been opened and unlocked or else the device will not connect and will shut down. Now that I have solved this issue the device is working fantastically and connects every time without issue this has substantially raised my opinion of this device and I would definitely now recommend if I had to make one change to this device it would be clear instructions And an updated app.

Intrusive app and broken firmware gimbals life goals of being a fan and fancy packaging though!
Check the App Store reviews. Firmware patch broke the functionality. App is incredibly intrusive. Copying clipboard and requires location and internet to even function. Its a gimbal not a gps it appears Hohem might be selling information gleamed from this app for what I don’t know. Never got the gimbal operating outside of the phone mount motor starts trying to be a fan for some reason. Packaging and app definitely is catering to a audience. The actual product is fine packaging is quite good looking and decent. The gimbal is made of fairly thin but passable plastics no idea about motor operation outside of the phone mount motor being inspired to live out its life goals of being a desk fan (it wasn’t even paired yet at this point btw). You go little buddy! It was a bit unnerving with it trying to use my phone as fan blades however the phone mount is pretty good as it banged against its stops with a iPhone in it and it didn’t toss my phone in my face. So theres a plus! The included tripod is passable. Once again thin plastics but okay. PSP thumb stick felt fine and the gimbal felt fine in my hand. No idea really to anything else. I will comment that the lock for the rotation is really cruddy as it’s just a single nub of plastic pushing against thin plastic, longevity is not in mind with this product to be fair. Its good looking E waste to be honest. Overall I don’t know how well it actually works due to the software issues. I imagine from previous reviews it works fine. Gimbals are pretty understood tech at this point! However the intrusive app and bricking firmware are not super good things. I didn’t use my main phone and information so lets see if Hohem sells it.Oh well. Final scoreDeskfan/10Cheers!
