Sennheiser Genuine Replacement Ear Pads Cushions for SENNHEISER HD414 / fit also Grado SR60 SR80 SR125 Headphones

I bought my Sennheiser HD414 headphones in 1968, and they have had a lot of use over those years. I replaced the cord many years ago, and when the origional ear cushions wore out I used home made foam cushions and a variety of cheap cushions that didn't stay on very well or were too thin. Then I discovered that the origional design were still available for 55 year old headphones. They fit perfectly and have a familiar comfort.

I took a punt on these for my Grado SR80es, which I find are great headphones for use without a headphone amplifier but suffer from being uncomfortable when worn for any prolonged period of time. The HD414 pads look like they won’t fit but, with a few determined tugs I had them on to the Grados in about 30 seconds and then they fit perfectly. I can’t say that I notice any sonic difference between the HD414 pads and Grado’s own, and initially they felt about the same on my ears. However, after prolonged use I did notice that these new pads were appreciably more comfortable than Grado’s own and I can now wear the headphones for considerably longer without discomfort. And I’m told they make me look like I’m being set upon by giant bumblebees. So, appearances aside, a five star recommendation.
