great product!
i give this product SIX stars! the receiver picks up more stations than any radio i have ever had, i am amazed at the performance. hear in the mountains you come to expect stations to fade as you move around in certain places, this radio has yet to do that. minor problem, even on local it picks up too many stations lots of stops in the scanning process but the 18 presets are more than enough for me. the sound quality is superb, i hear things i never heard before in cd's i've listened to for years, sound is crisp and clear. if you want better than this you will have to fork out big bucks. most of the poor ratings given this product are unfair and pertain to the ad instead of the product. true enough the settings are not that intuitive but the instructions are clear, so that is no real problem. no doubt the best bang for the buck.

Looks nice and works great
I wanted a stereo with an aux input that was cheap. It was easy to install and the sound is really good. Definitely a good choice if you want good quality for a low price.

Great sound on a budget!
I bought this for my wife after her factory stereo finally bit the dust. She likes things simple. I'm normally a Pioneer guy but this Clarion had a nice clean design that I thought she would like. For just over $50, it puts out great sound and good build quality!

so so for my liking
Somewhat disappointed with this unit. One, the controls are super small and hard to operate in my opinion. Two, it seems this unit's operation is weather related. When it's raining or real humid, the CD skips like crazy to a point that it's unlistenable. On a clear day with lower humidity, it works fine. Three, it seems to me that you have to do a lot of toggling back an forth to find certain controls you want. I.E. too many whistles and bells that are useless IMHO. I needed a low end head unit to play CD's for my pickup truck so decided on this one. I had Clarion stereo's in my vehicles back in the '70's and they were one of the best. This one is ok providing the weather is nice. Wish they made a simple HU with two knobs, (volume & station change) and have your separate bass and treble. That's all you really need. But I think all they seem to make these days are ones with so many whistles and bells, one has to actually look at the owners manual and just shake his head. Technology sometimes can over do it, but I digress.....

After less than 4 days installed it stopped outputting sound ...
After less than 4 days installed it stopped outputting sound to all 4 speakers in my truck. Checked all power wires and directly hooked the speakers up to the head unit outputs to rule out any vehicle wiring problems. Turns out the head unit sound output just stopped working. Not worth the time I spent on it let alone the money.

User interface is clunky and sound is not good for podcasts.
I've had this about a year now, and I still don't like the buttons or the preset sound choices. Too much bass for me, which is especially noticeable when listening to podcasts or books rather than music. It has customizable sound settings, but the range of what you can do is pretty limited. As for the buttons, nothing is intuitive. When I'm driving I don't want to have to sit there and look at the radio to figure out which buttons to push. Another annoying thing was this stupid banner ad that kept replacing the clock and running across the digital screen. I bet it took 30 minutes and a couple of web searches to figure out how to get rid of it. As for the CD, I have no idea if it is any good because I bought this mainly for the aux jack which connects to my iPhone. That works well. I wouldn't recommend this, and I wouldn't recommend the speakers I got at the same time to go with it: Clarion Mobile Electronics SRQ1732R.

Clarion receiver
I just ordered this because I had already had a clarion radio I just wanted a new face, well trying to put the new face on the old radio it didnt work so I had to install the new radio. No issue the only thing I wish it did was when it scrolls we could put our own words up there however we cant. So far no worries and I like the fact that it is red!
