Q: Will this stay clear after being heated?

Yes it stays clear and is often used for visors, folded with glowing lights, and used to make clear orbs and scepters

Q: How can you color it and keep it transparent?

We used Jacquard iDye Poly in three different colors, following this tutorial on the Worbla website: https://www.worbla.com/?p=5182 Since we were dying largish pieces, we did it in disposable foil baking trays over a camp stove outside (which was also good because it smelled considerably). Time consuming but we're happy with the results.

Q: I need a thin cast of an aluminum block with 1/2" diameter holes. If I melt this part way into the holes, will it pop out or get stuck?

This stuff doesn't really melt so much as become soft. You would have to force it into the holes with something. But afterwards, I imagine it would be removable.
