This stuff stops the growth of weeds and suckers!
I love this stuff! Weeds grow like trees here in Texas, I cut them down and they shoot right back up. But if I spray the stump and the areas where suckers pop up, they stop immediately and die off!! Finally, something that makes a difference!

It works!
I used to have two mature Callery pear trees (Pyrus calleryana), a deciduous tree native to China and Vietnam. They were planted by the home’s previous owner. While they certainly provided shade for home and lawn, not to mention a beautiful fiery display in the autumn (and a foul dead fish odor in the spring), they had to go. These trees are fragile and break, and destroy native plants nearby. They spread like weeds! One bright, hot day in September 2023, the tree in the backyard dropped three branches on the roof. Thankfully no one was hurt, and the damage was minimal. They had to go! A tree service chopped them down two days later. Fast forward to 2025, I needed something to kill the suckers still sprouting up from leftover roots in the soil. Sucker Punch does what the manufacturer says it does. With a bottle in hand, I continue my endless war with unwanted Callery suckers poking up through the soil. As the Bradford is a cultivar of the Callery, it, too, will whither and die from an application of Sucker Punch. The surrounding grass is fine.

Needs a better sprayer.
The product works well. The sprayer does not. It comes out as a skinny stream, no matter which setting I use.

Product works
Works great on aspen sprouts, does not damage grass, turns my aspens that pop up black in 5-7 days, great product

Just ok
Works on the existing suckers when applied but doesn’t stop the constant return of new ones. Hoped this would work on my crêpe Myrtle but they still come back strong with new suckers every six weeks. Too expensive for results achieved.

Works on root shoots
Kills the tree root suckers! I had cut out some type of bitter berry trees and killed the stumps last fall. This Spring, a carpet of shoots was coming up. I pruned them to an inch of the soil and dobbed the tips with Sucker Punch and shoot issue solved. After three weeks, no new shoots to report. Hopefully we are done with that issue.

Save Your Money
This product did not work on suckers from a Sequoia redwood, and the bottle itself was also poorly designed. I cut the first batch of suckers and immediately used the product, carefully adjusting the nozzle between the spray/mist and stream settings. Unfortunately, neither setting functioned properly. Instead of producing a usable spray pattern, the bottle released an uneven, dysfunctional stream that wasted a significant amount of product while providing very little direct coverage. Even with the application issues, enough product made contact with the suckers so I expected to see at least some results. However, after several days and then weeks, there was absolutely no visible effect. The suckers continued as if nothing had been applied. I followed the application process carefully and gave the product adequate time to work. Based on my experience, the product simply failed to perform as advertised. Between the ineffective formula and the defective bottle design, this ended up being a complete waste of both time and money.

Worked great!!
I was not expecting to stop the suckers as well as it did. So many growing up from the roots and they are all gone after one application. Very pleased with this product.
