Shop Fox M1114 Benchtop Sandblaster

If you are/were like me, you are looking at this Sand Blast cabinet because you want/need one occasionally and have limited experience with one and don't want to spend a lot of money. I do have some experience with these but didn't want to invest too much for what I need it for. I found that it arrived without damage and the parts were all there. The doors were not warped or cracked.I did find that the bulkhead fitting sucked so I replaced it with a true "bulkhead fitting" I got as well from Amazon, which was "Boeray 2pcs Bulkhead Brass Pipe Fitting 1/4 Inch NPT Female Thread to 1/4 Inch NPT Female Thread 1.5 Inch Length Outer Diameter 3/4-16 Bulkhead Coupling Bulkhead Tank Fitting Frame Hose Connector". $14.99I put legs underneath my Shop Fox. I replaced the plastic window with tempered glass (20-3/16" X 12-1/4") because I'm using crushed glass as my abrasive and found that it doesn't pit the glass. The Shop Fox M1114 would be better if the funnel bottom was deeper, but that would add cost to the unit so I'll deal with it as it is. For my money, I am happy with this purchase.

This cabinet does what it is supposed to, and works fine. The price was right and the size is good for our shop, since we usually are blasting small parts. The small size makes it easy to move around and store away when you don't need it.The Cons are as follows....1. The plastic doors on the sides bow in the middle and then leak like crazy. We end up with almost as much sand outside as we do inside. They really should be metal. We have modified ours with angle iron and extra weather stripping and now it doesn't leak as much.2. It leaks out of every rivet, joint, etc... Be prepared to caulk the heck out of this thing when you get it.3. The gloves on ours wore out after about 5-6 hours of use... maybe less. Both gloves cracked and started leaking at the wrists. Buy an extra set of good quality 6" diameter gloves, as you will probably be replacing them pretty soon.

Product arrived undamaged. Materials are high quality. Easy set-up and no leaks.I like the dual door latches for accessibility.Clear view when blasting..Great product!!!

It is pretty when you open the box. That is where the good ends... spent 20 minutes just trying to sandblast a concrete trowel.. would have done better saving my money on the blaster and just buying a new set of trowels! The cabinet doesn't allow for you to do any work, it just provides about 12 new headaches. Sand doesn't collect at the bottom of the cabinet, the blasting gun/hose/fittings all leak, the cabinet leaks, the light in the cabinet would do you better leaving it unplugged, the display protectors are worthless and you can't see into the cabinet...You ABSOLUTELY, need to purchase a dust collector, new lights, new 1/4" air supply hardware, a new gun, new blasting tips, and even a rubber mallet...to beat the thing to death and get sand to fall. Will never buy Shop Fox brand again. There QA dept or engineering team can do better than this.Don't buy this cabinet, unless you need MORE headaches within the four walls of your own shop... ::says nobody::

For sandblasting medium-sized parts and keeping the dust contained is what this cabinet does. Besides using the common sand to blast parts, I also use a special blasting gun to blast parts with Tungsten Disulfide to make them super lubricant. It is a very fine dust that you don't want in your lungs, this cabinet solves that problem! Great value for the price!!

For the price it's good. It's better than the Freight stores have to offer (I"ve had them too). Bought this to prep parts for Cerakote application.The metal cabinet itself is GREAT. No seam leaks or problems. The white powder coat is a very nice departure from the cheap looking Chinese red.The problem is with the gosh-darn PLASTIC DOORS! (Why plastic?!?) They were warped and bowed out of the box so that the center of the door did not even make contact with the cabinet's foam perimeter door seal. Both doors are this way. Result is a big pile of media under the door on your workbench after a short blasting session.Not sure why the doors are plastic but they should be steel. At least if steel, you could bend them back if they bent over time.

Overall a good sand blasting cabinet with plenty of space, but it does have a couple of issues. The first one being it has problems with leaking through the seams in the side doors while in use. I’ve been trying to fix this problem but haven’t found a perfect solution yet. Lowering the psi would probably help but I don’t think most people will want to do that. Also the tapered bottom should probably be a little steeper to get the sand back at the pickup tube. I found myself having to tip the cabinet a lot to dump the sand back in the proper place and then eventually removed the shelf altogether so I can just scoop it back to the pickup tube by hand while I’m using it. I’m still giving this 4 stars because be it’s supposed to have the biggest work area out of any other cabinet in this price range and I’m guessing these issues are probably going to be present on any other cabinet in this range. This isn’t a multi thousand dollar industrial grade unit so you can only expect so much out of this price point. You’ll also need a regular when you buy this, it doesn’t come with one.

CHECK all connections! I had to Solder wires that were just twisted together and had fallen. Also the unitwas dented really bad, but amazon gave me a good discount.
