If it is a 3 wire 24v dc sensor it will work.

can you manually operate it if it stops working without a switch by changing wires ?

Yes, You could splice the control & 24v wire together and that would close the relay and turn the lights on. That's often done during construction to keep lights on. It looks like that would be the red & blue control wires.
