How long does it take to kill fleas?

This didn’t kill the fleas at all. I spent $40 and it was a complete waste but the worst thing was my Bichon had a terrible reaction. 
He became extremely sleepy and lost most of the feeling in his back legs. It couldn’t pee or poop for 3 days. I was so scared !!
It finally wore off but I will never buy this again. Ever!

How can I guarantee that this legitimate Frontline product, given the numerous complaints/reviews of counterfeit product purchased on Amazon?

All I can say is I'll buy these at Walmart or my vet. Advantage 2 then Frontline and my smalldog is full of fleas. I've never had this issue and have been using it for years. Especially the Frontline, it is a real JOKE! Like putting plain water on them. I believe these products are knock off products and someone is getting rich.

Question 3

My dogs still have fleas after treatment, is this because there are fleas still in the carpet/bedding? Do I need to treat those as well?

The best way is to treat everything carpet, bedding, yard.  If you do nothing at all it will take at least 4 months for this product to get the flea infestation in check.  You must put this on your pet year round not just during the summer as fleas live in your house as well as it is a even temp all year long.

what if I see a flea on the dog?

If your dog goes outside they can be a taxi for the flea to come into the house.  The fleas and ticks only die IF they bite the animal.  Our dogs have not had ticks attached to them (from being bit), but they do carry the ticks into the house and we have to grab them before they get on furniture or a person.  If they dont bite the dog, they wont die
