Dometic SeaStar Safe-T Quick Connect Rotary Steering Kit, SS137XX

First boat rebuild, first steering system used. Came quick enough and everything went in pretty well. The only thing that is not emphasized enough is the amount of pressure needed to seat the cable into the helm. Its a lot. I was worried about putting too much strain on the helm trying to seat the cable... Dont know if thats possible now that ive done it. When they say pull in the cable until you hear a pop, they mean it. Once in it works like a charm. Great product thus far, simple install, and no complaints.

I like the replacement, cable mounted up pretty easy, I did have to drill a couple holes and cut the dash a little for the new helm. But, the way you have to measure these things just doesn't make much sense. My original cable was 19 feet long, but said 15 feet on the cable, so I ordered a 15 foot cable and the thing is just too long.

Very disappointed... My application was a bit of work and time consuming to get at to remove the old unit and install the new one. Worked ok but failed in less than one year. Will not buy again and don't recommend this product. Not reliable, also could be very dangerous for boating use.

I bought this as a direct replacement for a unit that seized in the tilt tube of my vintage Johnson 70 on my Whaler. It took a number of hours to remove the old cable and clean up the tube. But once that was done, installation of the new part was very easy. ***Make sure you measure your old one according to the manufacturers instructions. Buying a new cable that is too short or too long would be a problem.*** Also I would like to add that this product seems to be well made - very heavy duty for the price. My old one really did not fail - it just got stuck in a corroded tilt tube that lacked a zerk fitting and had to be drifted out, which compromised the cable in the process.

I installed this a few weeks ago and it is working great. Install was pretty simple and everything matched the configuration that I had on before. My steering wheel is not aligned how I would prefer but I suppose that is probably no ones fault but my own. The way they have you measure your current cable to get the right sized one was flawless. The new one matched almost identically. The steering seems to be a little smoother than my old one was and does get a little feedback at slower speeds. Once you starting giving more throttle the feedback goes away. Overall, an excellent choice in replacement gear and cable.

Came on time and very well packaged. Had all parts needed to install plus it had excellent instructions. Installed it on My 1974 Starcraft runabout and works very well. Used my original steering wheel and it fits perfectly. Had to cut a 1.5 in. hole to feed cable through so I did not have to remove 50 hp Etec. Did it on a sunny afternoon with several beer breaks.

Easy to install and the steering works great. The videos were helpful too.

I replace the old part on m’y 1989 fishing boat And the system fits perfectly on the boat. I hâves sine difficulty to run the new câble bécasse off the pack of roof to pass through. The connexion between the cable and the system is very simple and easy.
