A difficult decision
I bought this Altec as well as the Bose Soundlink at the same time. They had too many good reviews that I couldn't make up my mind from only reading reviews, I had to hear both of them for myself. What most everyone has said about these are definitely true. The Bose is the most aesthetically pleasing, which is part of what made it so difficult for me to decide, but I'll get into that in a minute. I felt the build quality of the Bose was excellent, as well as its 'smart' cover. In my opinion, its the most portable out of any speaker in its class, by far. Its like carrying a small textbook, seriously. The bass is fantastic, however, the highs and mids are definitely lacking. Nonetheless, music sounds great coming out of the little speaker. The battery life is pretty good as well. I got about 8 hours at medium volume while at work. The Altec surprised me. I did not expect it to sound as good as it did. The highs and mids are there, and the lows are not bad at all, and in my opinion, not nearly as bad as what some are claiming in their reviews. I enjoy bass, a lot; it adds so much more depth to music. And I must say, the lows on the Altec sounded nice, but definitely not as nice as the Bose. The design is sleek, lightweight, and acceptable for any location. The clarity of the Altec is extremely pleasing. Low, medium, and high volume levels are pleasing. Too high and, well, we all know what usually happens. This is where the Bose beat the Altec. At high volume levels, the Bose sounded awesome. The highs and mids really come out and the music just resonates beautifully wherever its playing. I've determined the Bose is really an outdoor speaker. The Altec at low and medium (one might call these 'normal' levels) volume sound the best. When it came down to it, I chose the Altec over the Bose because of its 'dongle' capability, sound quality, and remote control. Not to mention its over $100 less than the Bose. But in all honesty, I really wanted to choose the Bose, but I believe the Altec genuinely sounded better for what it cost and the extras that came with it. I listen to a wide variety of music so I couldn't exactly justify my decision for the Bose's appearance and portability because it failed at being able to suit all my needs. The quality and clarity of sound definitely outweighs physical appearance and strong bass, especially when the bass overpowers the highs and mids, in my opinion. The battery on the Altec is not as good, but its manageable. I got about 5.5-6 hours at medium volume.I was satisfied with my decision until I stumbled upon the Big Jambox. I read a wonderful review that compared the Soundlink with the Big Jambox, and I had to give it a try. Low and behold, the Jambox was literally, exactly what I was looking for. The clarity is as good as the Altec, even better in my opinion, and the bass is definitely more prominent. Still not as strong as the Soundlink, but the Jambox actually provides more of an even sound. Features and design are awesome. Heavier than the Altec but just as portable, and looks a lot better too. Has a speakerphone feature which is cool especially if you plan to listen to music from your phone at home, or participate in conference calls.I decided to write this because I struggled for days deciding what speaker to buy. One could call it obsessive how much I compared the speakers to finally make a decision. That just shows how difficult the decision was. They are all great pieces of equipment and all have their strengths and weaknesses. But it ultimately comes down to what you want out of a speaker and what your willing to sacrifice. If you have the money, I highly, highly recommend the Big Jambox, especially over the Bose Soundlink. Absolutely hands down. Thanks for reading.

Good Speaker
It does its job, to put it in simple words. This speaker works just like a wired computer speaker. You can either stream from yourmobile phone or via PC. USB transmitter and remote is shipped with the package. The unit can be charged, which is a great relief. No more battery issues. The quality is good for a wireless speaker and it's size. The audio is slightly towards thebass side which is good. The sound enhance feature in the remote is not noticeable.A slight improvement you can observe.I'ts bit expensive. But remember its from Altec Lansing. To some extend, you can buyit without reading a review. I have tested for 30 feet. It works greatOn charge it works great for comfortably for 6 hours or so, which is okay.Nobody is going to listen 8 hours continuously. Also when you need, it just hook it tothe power.I enjoy mostly by streaming Internet Radio on mobile phone to the speaker. Then I put the mobilephone on charge. Take the speaker wherever I want and enjoy the music. On laptop, now the video, music etc, I just stream to the speaker. It's good for watching movie oryoutube.I am satisfied. No complaints. I have gone through other speakers, but due to various reasons,I concluded on this one. Logitech speaker is good it seems, but it wont stand on it's own, youneed to pull a stand. I don't like that. This speaker stand firmly on table or evenon bed. Regarding the design, it has a space age sophisticated design with remote dock-able.at the back.Summary:PROS:1. Space Age Design.2. Two speakers.3. Remote Control Included! (which can be docked in the back during transit)4. Rechargeable and plays for 6 hours or so which is satisfactory.5. Auxiliary Line In.6. USB transmitter for PC/Laptop included!7. Stream either from Mobile Phone or Laptop.8. Intelligent facility to carry.9. Flat bottom, so stands nicely.CONS:1. ESS feature on remote control to widen the audio is noteasily noticeable. Only very feeble difference.2. Unable to see whether it reproduce in stereo. No difference. Can enjoy just like two mono speakers.3. On some particular frequency esp. vocal hearddistortion. But not on songs with music instruments.4. Expensive. It's a matter of personal choice. Most speakers are very small. Logitechspeaker is good it seems, but it won't stand on a shelf on it's own. You need to pullit's plastic stand. I never like it. I am happy about this product.

100% satisfait
