Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon Fishing Line/Leader Material

I love this fishing line. It's nearly impossible to see this line in the water. Super hard to break without scissors. Lightweight and plenty of fishing line for multiple fishing reels. I plan to keep this fishing line on hand.

Vanish has a bad reputation because the original formula was not that great. However, it is been reformulated a couple times and I have never had any issue with it. This line is incredibly tough and has a breaking strain that is way above the rating. Back when I had a Bass Tracker Pro Team 190 TX, I snagged a dock with the 12 lb test and I made my boat do a full 180 before I was able to make the line snap. This line has never failed me and I continue to use it year after year. If you're regularly breaking off with this line, it is 100% your fault. It's operator error and lack of ability to properly tie knots.

It’s seen very promising (invisible!). I will try it out this coming spring for catching salmon.

This Berkley Vanish Fluorocarbon line has some pros, but it's best suited for short-term use. I've found that it works well for trout and bass fishing, especially when using lighter gear. The line is nearly invisible underwater, which is a huge advantage when targeting fish in clear waters, and it handles nicely on the reel when fresh. However, durability is a significant drawback. After one or two fishing trips, the quality starts to drop noticeably. You’ll find yourself stripping the line off and re-spooling sooner than expected. Only high-quality knots hold well with this line; otherwise, it tends to snap under pressure. If you aren’t confident in tying strong knots, this may not be the best option for you. Overall, it’s a decent line if you catch it on sale, but don’t expect it to last beyond a few outings. Good for specific trips, but there are more durable options out there for regular use.

If you've never used this stuff, you are missing out! Side by side with my brother fishing, using the exact same rods, reels and bait! Only difference was I had used this line, he didn't! I slayed the fish he didn't catch anything!

Past purchases of Vanish have been positive but not the two reels I just received. They both had spiral memory right out of the box. I’ve no idea if they were stored in the heat and it set or what caused it but it’s not a desirable thing. Sadly I like another commenter was heading to the hard water the next morning and needed to fit my spools so on it went. Next time I’ll consider another brand and supplier.

I don't go fishing to be honest. I bought a few spools of this to hang up decorations at my wedding. We found it worked really well and was very sturdy. Of course mind you we were hanging things like paper lanterns and pom poms but it still looked really nice.

Good leader, a hell of a lot cheaper than seaguar but it is not as thin and invisible. Don’t get me wrong it is significantly less visible than any other leader I have used. I use this and tie 2’ of seaguar on the end when I am chironomid fishing. Awesome line, doesn’t bend or crimp easily and is strong for 6lbs!
