Some of the critical reviews on here crack me up....did you not do any research on this before you bought it? This is a entry level coding robot best suited to for 4 to 8 year olds depending on your particular child's interests and understanding of technology. Our 4 year old is the type that understands and can use any electronic device he gets his hands on, Apple, android, Kindle fire....doesn't matter he has a knack for it. He also loves remote control cars, tractors...anything he can drive....so this toy was a perfect fit. It works just as described...the folks here complaining about it....it's not a self aware robot like Cozmo....it's a programmable one with a little feedback thrown in for fun....So, if you have a smart kid with their own tablet that likes to play with electronics this would be a perfect gift...

10 minutes of fun for the whole family.
COJI would be a four-star toy if it were twenty bucks. That might sound like a harsh indictment for a Bluetooth-enabled robot with LCD face and moving wheels, but the truth is that this toy is barely any fun at all, even for young kids. In today's world, forty to sixty bucks can get you quite a bit of sophisticated gadgetry, but not so with this device. I suspect that all the five star reviews were written by parents whose child had yet to play with the thing.Without the companion app, available on recent iOS and Android devices, COJI is useless. Sure, it makes a sound when you tilt it or shake it, but so does a baby rattle. Not impressed. Also, the companion app is not available on iPad 2, which is a shame for kids who have received older tablets from parent who've upgraded. All of these shortcomings could be overlooked if the companion app were awesome. It's not. There's a few different modes, some of which don't even let you control the robot. The two modes that do let you control the robot consist of a "follow the directions, step by step" control mode, which frankly, is limited and quite boring, and "remote control" mode, which frankly, is horrible and imprecise. The six-year old who received this robot as a gift got bored of it after ten minutes, and went back to playing games on his iPad. As a technically-savvy adult, I couldn't even think of any way to make this toy more interesting for him. Such a shame for a device that is essentially a market-driven product.

Okay, suits the purpose, but won't last
My daughter is 4. She is obsessed with robotics. She wanted a robot she could code for Christmas but she is just a beginning reader so the ones you program with scratch were a little too advanced. We thought this would be the perfect in between since she definitely understands emojis. She actually loves Coji and she does program him to do some funny stuff like eat a bunch of tacos and poop. Which is rude, but pretty funny. However, the app crashes a lot I feel and doesn't have the greatest functionality. Also, he runs on two separate motors for his movement and they don't go the same speed so effectively, Coji can't go straight. That's pretty annoying to me, she doesn't care, she isn't picky, she's a kid. However, I felt it was only an average quality toy. I was glad I only paid $30 for it on sale. If I had paid the full price for this toy I probably would have complained to the manufacturer.

Very cute little robot
My son wanted the Cozmo robot after seeing a friend get one but seeing as he just turned 6 it seemed excessive. This is cute and will be a good intro into coding although very basic. He was able to figure it out right away. For the price (low 20s) it is worth it, just don't expect the same quality or detail and ability of a $150+ robot. He thinks it's funny and loves that he can make his sister (1 year old) laugh by putting funny faces on it and she does know it's him. App however was not available on amazon App Store for the kindle fire so he has to use my iPhone to use it.

Love this coding robot
Love this coding robot! My 6yr old daughter has played with it every day since I gave it to her for Christmas. She loves that it works with the Amazon Fire tablet at my house, or the iPod Touch at her mom's house. And in the car she plays with the different macros in the robot without the app. I'm happy she's learning to love coding and hoping she grows from there. It's very easy to use and sturdy. (She's already dropped it a couple times).
