Insanely expensive, but a great product
Great product, my daughter loves it so much. But the price point is so beyond excessive. It’s quite infuriating the way companies take advantage of tired parents who would do anything for their child to have a great night’s sleep.

Made for safer co sleeping, not miracles
First, I've read a lot of reviews and what seems to be happening most frequently is that there is a baby that sleeps really well, then something happens - teething, illness, sleep regression, etc - and the baby stops sleeping for a bit. The tired parent buys a dockatot and the baby starts sleeping well again. From what I know, these babies were going to go back to sleeping well anyway, so it's really hard to tell whether the dockatot actually makes any difference.I have a terrible sleeper. She was a great sleeper for about a month before her 4 month regression, but she hasn't been since. We've had nights where she wakes every 30-45 min, and some miraculous nights where she slept maybe 6 hours. Most often, she sleeps maybe 4 hours, then 2.5, then another 3, then another 2 hours. She was sleeping okay for a while, maybe 3-4 hour stretches, but right before we got the dockatot, she was flopping all over the bed. Sleeping very restlessly and waking us up all night. I got the dockatot out of desperation to corral her. This is my experience:The first night she woke up at least hourly, crawling out of the dock and all over me. The second night she slept pretty well - only waking twice. The third night was hourly again. Then she sleep well. This happened for a bout a week, but by the end of 7 days ( I promised myself I would give it a week), she was only waking up once or twice. For my baby, this is pretty amazing. This lasted for several weeks. Then she had her birthday, then she started teething, and now she is crawling out of the dockatot constantly. The past two weeks, the only thing the dockatot has done is take up a huge amount of room in our bed.So, my opinion of this item is that it can help, but it isn't a sleep miracle:1) I think it keeps us from disturbing each other for cosleeping, which is great if your baby is a good sleeper but you're waking each other up.2) It seemed to help slightly decrease night nursing. My daughter went from nursing every 2-3 hours to once 1-2 times a night once the barrier of the dockatot was between us. She's back to frequent nursing again, but also teething.3) We bought the Grand when she was about 11 months. Maybe the smaller one would work better, starting younger, at the rolling stage or something. It doesn't keep a crawling or walking baby in at all if they don't want to be.4) This thing is HUGE. We're going on a trip soon but I can't imagine bringing it. It's as big as my 65lb dog's bed. It's ok when my baby actually sleeps IN it because then she's not all over the bed. But it takes up way too much room if she escapes and wants to flop around.5) It's a breathable material. This is great. I can shove my face into it and still breathe, although I would take care if your baby/toddler has a cold. But be careful, it stops being breathable if you put other fabrics on it. Also, this means it isn't the softest material. It has sort of a canvas texture, which might annoy some.I haven't put this in her crib, 1) because she gets hysterical in her crib, and 2) because the FAQs say not to, for safety reasons, I'm sure. In that regard, I don't know how it would help with crib transitions. It hasn't for us so far.All in all, I think it is worth a try. It isn't a miracle, and it really doesn't justify the high price. I think it should be literally half the price (or less). However, I am still hoping that right now is a teething phase and we will go back to waking only 1-2 times a night with it.

Wish it was less expensive.
Going against instructions, I moved this from my bed to transition my baby to his crib. I also bought this when he was 7 months old and 95% in height because they're so expensive and I didn't want to buy 2. Actually, probably the only reason I bought it at this price point was because it was 3a.m. and I was desperate. I wonder how many of these are purchased in the wee hours of the night. I find he snuggles up to a side, stays on his back, sleeps well. Without it, he'd push himself into a corner or some other uncomfortable position. I don't think it solves all sleep issues, you still need sleep training, etc. It's nice to bring to grandma's or wherever to provide an easy familiar place to sleep. I find he usually has no issues cuddling up to a side and going to sleep. It's lighter than lugging a pack n play but just as bulky.

I would have rated this a 4-5 star until it ...
I would have rated this a 4-5 star until it had to be washed. Obviously it has to be. As soon as i did and returned the pillow now its all lumpy. Over time, the more washes, the lumpier the pillow. I bought this for my toddler which was okay i guess and now that i want to use it with my 8 week old, it doesnt feel safe because of how the pillow is so uneven. I would not Reccomened this considering how little we used it compared to how long it lasted.

Amazing
I had the dock a tot deluxe and used it since day one with my newborn. I swore when she out grew it I wouldn’t buy the grand because it’s insanely expensive but here I am... writing a 5 star review on it. I started my baby in the grand at about 5 months old because she’s a huge baby. 95th percentile. At 6.5 months we moved her to her own room and the dock a tot went with her. She has been sleeping through the night since we moved her in her own room. It’s been a couple of weeks now and I took it out so I could wash it, I went to put her down for a nap without it and she screamed and rolled and got stuck in her crib over and over again until I broke down and just put it back in and said I will wash it later. As soon as I put her in it she was a sleep in minutes. This thing is amazing. The price and process to clean it sucks... but it’s so so worth my sleep and sanity.
