My concern was draw on battery. Cables are nice and thick!!!
I transfer date where there is no power suply, so....The case is lightweight. The cables are nice and thick. No pin bending, if you are patient and attentive. When inserted, any port occupied with a card will show up individually.Transfer speeds are pretty much as promised(don't forget - your cards determine that, too).Using my Samsung Note 8.0 as a "conduit", I use this to transfer photos from my 8gb CF card directly to a 64gb micro sd card(both in the reader), so as to keep my tablet clear and fast. I have space limitationsMost importantly - even if I do a 30min file transfer of 12gb; IT DOES NOT DRAW A LOT OF ENEGY FROM THE TABLET!So I shoot all day, transfer my files at night, and then recharge my tablet from my motorcycle's external power source when I am on the go and this system works out pretty well.I also have a 5 year old beat up 2.0 version of this product and it still functions Fine, but the cables are a little thinner and I wanted a back-up.If you use sandisk cards, get a sandisk reader - it just makes sense and eliminates manufacturer incongruities.-Satisfied

Works For Me.
Not much to say about this; it does what I purchased it for. I started using this with a Windows 8 desktop computer which was upgraded to 8.1 and now upgraded to Windows 10. I have used the Compact Flash, and SDHC slot successfully.I didn't down grade the star rating, but the 'heavy duty' cable that is supplied was not flexible enough for me to use the ImageMate stand; it kept tipping over. For me it was not a big deal since I place the unit on top of the computer tower when not in use.

Good reader, so-so design
Considering the price this reader is pretty good. Transfer speeds are as advertised. Build quality is so-so but again you have to consider that price of this is less than $30! It mounts and unmounts cards really quickly. Nice blue indicator lights. This stuff may matter to some of you:A lot of negative reviews here are pointing out design flaws with the stand and cable being too thick - they are right. That stand is flimsy and the cable is very thick and it is moving the whole device around and can flip it over because the cable want to move certain way. BUT that is easily solvable - VELCRO! Toss that stand aside and just lay down the reader on your desk with two small pieces of velcro and it will be solidly attached and is easily removable for portability. See the photos I've attached. I like it this way a lot better than vertical stand.4 stars just because of the stand issue. I personally don't need it but if I did, that would not work at all.

Very versatile
Love this card reader. Is hard to find good readers for older, large flash cards. This one covers all the bases and gives fast transfers. Great item!

Avoid This for CF Card Use
First the good part: USB 3 is flipping fast. I've been using a Sony reader for years now and the transfer speeds are way better. But....I can't believe anyone actually used this before they actually let it leave the factory. It mounts magnetically on a stand. Looks sexy and all except when you actually insert a card the stand tends to fall off. i could live with that except.....After less than 10 CF card insertions I have a bent pin! I went thousands of insertions with my Sony with no issues. The problem is that the SanDisk is very shallow and doesn't have enough travel to properly align the card with the pins. Again if anyone had actually used this before production they'd have caught the design flaw.Avoid this if you use CF cards.

Card Reader is only so-so
I have been a loyal SanDisk CF card user since 2005, in the professional digital photo world it's equivalent to a lifetime. Without exception I have relied on the quality and consistency of SanDisk products, until this card reader.I currently shoot with the Canon 5D Mark III and it will accept CF and SD cards. I often shoot with both. I have been using (2) SanDisk FireWire 800 card readers for years with great success. However, my new Apple laptop doesn't have FW800 so I needed to switch to USB 3.0 card readers. With such a great track record I figured the SanDisk ImageMate All-in-One USB 3.0 reader would be great... it is not!The slim form factor is nice but the build quality is inferior. I know it's plastic but this is cheap plastic. The CF and SD cards don't slide into the corresponding slots easily or smoothly. The CF slot in particular is really poorly designed. The cards only go into the slot about an 1/8 inch and the cards are not firmly held in place. I've had CF cards fall out simply because I moved the reader.Next, the very "Philippe Starck" inspired base is totally useless. It looks cool but doesn't work. The base, which is detachable by the way, is held in place with a small magnet. However, the firmness of any USB 3.0 cable itself exerts enough torque to pop the reader off the base every time I try and mount it on the base. Looks cool but it does not work at all. Finally, I purchased two of these because I like having backups of all my gear. Within a few days I gave one to my neighbor and the other to my in-laws. It's okay for someone who downloads a card every few months but not for an active daily user.SanDisk cards are fantastic but this reader is junk.

Do I like the sandisk image mate
Not as good and sturdy as there older reader. The magnetic connection does not work as the strip came unglued from the reader. The 3.0 cable is stiff and causes the reader to tip over. The reader does work as far as reading the cards and is very fast with no issues transferring files to the computer. The reader just lacks quality physically.

I bought one of these at work and everyone loved it so much I bought a few more for my colleagues. So, when it came time to purchase one for my personal use, this was my go to option. The card reader works really well and I predominantly use it for CF and SF cards. The feet at the bottom are held in place magnetically, so when I travel, I leave the feet behind. The card reader works well while lying flat too. Love this product and highly recommend it.
