Shure PG42-LC
After reading reviews of many high end microphones for home studio recording of vocals, I decided to get this one. I didn't want to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars for one of those well known top of the line studio microphones, but I also didn't want to compromise on top-notch sound qaulity. Once you get to a certain threshold of quality in many things, it's diminishing returns for every extra dollar that you spend. Right out of the box this microphone impressed me. Although it's not in Shure's high end KSM series with some extra frills, this one certainly delivers like a champ in sound quality. I've used several other microphones, but have never heard the precise clarity and pleasing vocal tone quality I get in my home studio recordings using this microphone. You can hear every nuance of your vocals. Granted some microphones are better for some voices than others. But I don't think that anyone but the most finicky studio engineer would hear much of a difference (certianly not any that couldn't be compensated for with DAW tools) with any of the more expensive microphones. The pretty carrying box that comes with it seems a little over the top in extravegance to me. But hey, since I use this microphone almost everyday now, the empty case looks very pretty sitting in my closet. Additionally, IDJNOW-DJ offered it at a great price; and they provided great service and extremely prompt delivery.

Excellent buy.
This microphone is excellent.Clear and crisp sound. It does not come wit a computer hookup, you will need to buy a phantom power box with a USB connection, and you WILL need to buy an XLR cable seperately.I got an Audiobox USB by PreSonus from Guitar Center, and I love recording!!I record mostly vocals and acoustic guitar.

Good mic for the money
Clean sound but a bit harsh in the upper mids. In my opinion it’s not for overly aggressive or overly gentle performers.

Great for voice recording
The Shure PG42 is a great microphone. I don't know what the USB version is like, since I've never used it, but the XLR version is definitely a must, that is, of course, if you are looking for a microphone that can capture the sound of your voice nicely. Some would call this microphone a "vocal" microphone, some would call it a "multi-purpose". From 2 years of working with this microphone, I can confidently say that this is a vocal mic.You sure can tinker with your EQs and settings, trying to get the right sound for an instrument, but once you try a different mic, you can tell that the PG42 is just not made for instruments. However, once again, if you are a broadcaster, VO artist, or a youtuber trying to record your gameplay commentary, or external audio for your video, this is a mic for you.

I used this one church for specials. One female singer and a D-18, filled the Church with beautiful tone from 3 feet away. Recommended highly.....

This was the first microphone I bought and in my opinion it's the best. Crystal clear and professional sounding. Great quality mic. Great value. The shock mount is also superb quality and it comes with a very nice carrying case. You can't go wrong with this mic.

Nice Affordable Mic!
The Only Thing That I Anxious About The Mic Is Logo On Product "Made In China" Sold By Amazon.Com. "I Didn't Know And I've Expected Made In Germany Or Mexico Before I Purchase It!? Performance Is Really Nice With Quality Of Mogami Cable. I Advice This Mic But Again I'm Not Really Sure About This Mic Genuine Or Not!?
