Excellent Value for an Outstanding Lens
The Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens is a stellar addition to any photographer's kit, offering exceptional value for its price. This compact and lightweight lens packs a punch with its sharp image quality and beautiful bokeh, making it perfect for portraits, street photography, and even some macro shots. One of the standout features is the fast f/1.8 aperture, which performs brilliantly in low-light conditions and allows for excellent subject isolation. The autofocus is quick and quiet, thanks to the STM motor, which is a significant advantage for both stills and video work. The build quality is impressive for such an affordable lens. While it’s mostly plastic, it feels solid and durable, with a metal mount adding to its robustness. The lens is also incredibly lightweight, making it easy to carry around for extended shooting sessions. Image quality is where this lens truly shines. It delivers sharp, crisp images with great color rendition and contrast. The bokeh is smooth and pleasing, adding a professional touch to your photos. Chromatic aberration and distortion are minimal, which is remarkable at this price point. In conclusion, the Canon RF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens is an outstanding choice for both amateur and professional photographers. It offers excellent performance, fantastic image quality, and incredible value, making it a must-have for anyone with a Canon RF mount camera. Highly recommended!

Nifty50
I picked up this lens a few weeks ago, and I’m blown away by how much quality you get for such a compact, affordable piece of gear. It’s lightweight, easy to carry, and works beautifully with my Canon mirrorless camera. The image quality is excellent — sharp in the center, lovely color rendering, and that f/1.8 aperture gives a smooth, creamy background blur perfect for portraits and low-light shots. For true sharpness of the lens, shoot at f/2.8-4. Autofocus is quick and accurate, though you can hear a faint noise if you’re recording video. The build feels solid for the price, even if it’s not weather-sealed. Overall, this lens is an amazing value. It’s a great addition to any kit, especially if you’re just starting out or want a versatile prime without spending a fortune. Highly recommended!

First time lens
The Canon 50mm f/1.8 is one of those golden lenses that isn’t too expensive. It’s a great first lens to learn the basics of framing and still photography. Autofocus is fairly fast, and in low light it really shines thanks to the wide aperture. The size is perfect for travel. It’s great for close shots like portraits, but also works well if you step back for landscapes or car photos. It’s easy to mount on a Canon RF body, feels well built, and delivers sharp, clean images. Shooting in RAW really brings out even more detail, no matter if you’re using a low- or high-end body

Great Value Lens, Even if It's an Entry-Level Option
The Canon RF 50mm F1.8 STM is often considered an entry-level lens, but don't let that fool you. It delivers sharp images, beautiful background blur, and excellent low-light performance for the price. It's compact, lightweight, and easy to carry, making it a great everyday lens. Autofocus is reliable, and the image quality is more than good enough for portraits, content creation, and general photography. While Canon offers more advanced RF lenses, this one provides outstanding value and proves that a beginner-friendly lens can still produce impressive results. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an affordable and capable prime lens.

excellent lens
it’s quickly become my go-to lens. It’s compact and lightweight, so it’s easy to carry around all day, and the fast f/1.8 aperture gives beautiful background blur and performs really well in low light. The STM autofocus is smooth and quiet, perfect for both photos and videos. It feels solid for its size and works seamlessly with my Canon EOS R series camera. Overall, an excellent, versatile lens that’s great for everyday shooting.

Incredible value and great fun to use
This is a fantastic lens. When used with a full frame camera (I use the R6 MkII) it's easily the most versatile and capable prime lens you can get for anywhere near this price range. I think this is a perfect starting point for any newbie, and is also perfect for honing skulls further if you're an enthusiast. It helps you to focus on composition and the use of the aperture to get different effects. It's very light, but still robust enough to easily sit in a bag and get swapped out regularly. The focus mechanism does create a bit of noise, but I've never found it too distracting. It may need consideration if you're using it as a film lense. But build quality is excellent and it's easily the best looking of canon's 50mm lenses of the past. You can't go wrong with it, give it a go!

Strongly recommend.
I bought this as an addition to the two zoom lenses I got with my Canon EOS R10, and it's made the other lenses pretty much redundant. The quality is far superior and noticeable straight away. It focuses quickly, the images are sharp, and being a prime lens, is more compact, too. I've had no regrets with this at all. The only thing to be aware of is that when used with a cropped sensor camera, it has a fair amount of zoom, so sometimes requires stepping away from the subject more than you'd expect. If you have a full-frame sensor, definitely purchase.

This is a lens with superpowers!
Shockingly, it is one of the best items I ever bought. Although influencers on the social media always praise this lens, it really surprised me. The potential you get of basically just using this lens is crazy. It offers an amazing 1.8 aperture which performs incredibly good even at low light scenarios. Even the build material that is used just feels reliable and sturdy that just make you feel safe when having the lens attached or even detached I consider this product as PERFECT in price, performance, size, weight, and build material. If you want to upgrade your photography level this is a big jump despite the low price compared to the performance, I heavily recommend this lens.

Nifty 50, Indeed
Lightweight and excellent performance. Versus real top end, I guess blowing up onscreen and really pixel-peeping differences exist but in my real world it's tack sharp. Weather sealing might be a help, but my non pro use means it's a whatever benefit I don't want to pay for. It's very much plastic that feels like it will last if treated carefully, not thrown into a bag after a busy pro day. Oh, and it "Image Stabilisation" would be nice for more low-light flexibility but the fast aperture can help if not a flash gun situation. Ideally suited to walk around stuff and general people pics, but portraits are in its remit. Overall good bang for buck in a system I am still on the fence with (same as the others) at this juncture.
