A Good Starter Kit
First off, A number of these items, especially the backpack, are smaller then they look in the picture. Oddly enough, they were able to fit all this items in it. After some looking around stores and Amazon this kit seems to be the most useful as a starter kit for 2 people. The ER Food Bars reminds me of bricks. But, the bars are good enough and are lemon-vanilla flavored. The Water Boxes looks like they can last for 3 days. The Water Purification Tablets bottle is small, but only takes a little over 30 minutes to treat water. The Thermal Blankets are thin and looks like they can rip, not really sure if all the thermal blankets are like that. The Tube Tent is pretty good, but I'm a spacious man and may need to get another tent. The Lightstick really does last 12 hours and is pretty bright, though I will get more than 1 lightstick, just in case. The Dust Masks are thin and will be replaced. The Work Gloves are pretty durable and are light, odd that there is only 1 for a 2-person kit. The Solar/Hand-Crank Flashlight/Radio/Charger is smaller than it looks in the picture, but it works very well and was one of the reason why I went for this survival kit. The Swiss Army Knife is more or less passable. Not sure if all the multi-tool knife are the same, but it is hard to pull out the tools and the knife, scissor, and corkscrew are not very sharp. The Survive-a-Guide helps a little, but is basically a list of their other kits. The First Aid Kit as a little light on first aid, so I bought an extra first aid kit from Walgreens. And last, and needs to be mentioned again, the Backpack is SMALL. I am 6'1" tall and around 280lbs. and this backpack barely fits me. So if you're like me, it is wise to change it for another, bigger, backpack like I did. Overall I am pleased with the survival kit. But again, it will be a starter kit for me and I will replacing and adding various items.

A good starting point, decent value
This kit is a good starting point for building your own survival pack, but it is far from comprehensive. The radio requires two batteries, which are not included. Its reception is ok for FM, but pretty bad for AM.The flashlight comes in a worryingly Engrish labeled box, but it's very bright and needs no batteries. The food and water rations I have not tried, but seem legit, as do the water purification tablets, though you can expect the purified water to taste pretty bad.The first aid kit is just your dollar-store band aids and wipes sort of thing, which is fine, because most people don't know how to use anything else, myself included. There are gloves and a mask included though. I noticed that there is no mouthpiece for CPR, and that bothers me a little. The glowstick and whistle... Well, it's pretty hard to screw those up, and the ponchos and blankets seem comparable to similar Coleman products. This kit DOES NOT HAVE: a knife, any sort of rope, a compass, a reusable container for water, matches, paper, or any kind of toiletries (ever try hiking and realize you forgot the toilet paper?).However, the backpack, which seems durable enough to at least last trough the emergency, has plenty of pockets and space left over for all of this stuff. I added a KA-BAR, 100ft of 550 paracord, a book of matches (I'm also a smoker and carry a lighter), a notebook and pencil, duct tape, toilet paper and an empty coffee can (great for waterproof storage, or boiling water/food).

Good Starter Kit for value. Backpack stinks, but everything else is worth it!
I MEAN, its ok. Not sure what else to say! I spent quite a long time looking through all the reviews and realized the best way to get a really high quality kit was to build it yourself. The reviews are correct in saying the backpack is a joke. The zipper broke shortly after purchasing and looks like the entire thing would maybe barely make it through, if it didn't fall apart in the event of a giant earthquake....BUT I will say... I had nothing before this kit. At least now I feel a bit more prepared. Is it the best? Nope. Is it better than nothing? ABSOLUTELY. Will it be helpful if I was in an emergency? Yes, probably so. I will probably just swap the stuff into an old jansport backpack and keep under my couch. It would be better if I had built my own kit, But really, I've been too lazy to go around and gather up the ingredients from all different places, that just buying this one kit was totally worth saving the hassle. I also added a crank-operated flashlight and radio and some chapstick, face wipes and phone chargers that work in the flashlight.

Great Stuff, Terrible Bag!
The contents of the pack are top-notch, and everything is useful and definitely necessary in an emergency. So the moment you get it, toss the backpack and load the goodies into a REAL backpack that's meant to actually be worn on the back of a human being. While the construction of the pack is reasonably solid, the straps are a shoulder-wrecking disaster. They're narrow, with little padding, and have no load-spreading ability whatsoever. This pack has a lot of water in it, making it extremely heavy. The straps slice into your shoulders almost immediately, and there's no waist strap. There's no chest strap, either. The back of the pack is not padded. If you're in a natural disaster, you'll get about five blocks away, and you're done.It works as a hand bag, and that's about it.Also, I understand that the bright color and huge logo acts as advertising, and helps keep the price low? But when a natural disaster hits, the LAST thing you want to do, is tell the world you have food and water on your back.

Comprehensive.
Got it for my sister to put in her car. She is happy with it as an emergency and earthquake preparedness kit.

Missing items listed in the product description
The flashlight is not as described. There are no water purification tablets. The pack itself is sturdy. The small radio seems like a dollar store special and it does require 2 AA batteries - not included.
