Glowcrazy Doodle Dome Misc. – January 1, 2012

Original Review with 1 star on 12/25/12:I bought this for my 2 year old for Christmas. She was so excited when she tore off the paper. Unfortunately, the lightwand was missing so all her excitement was for nothing. Needless to say, I'm completely livid. Christmas morning should be magical for a kid, not a huge disappointment. The box was sealed so this was a manufacturer error. What's worse, when I try to process the return, I don't have the option of exchanging it. This only makes me more angry because now I have to return it and wait for a refund while I purchase another dome. So, I have to pay again even though the refund won't be processed until after they get my return. If I do decide to get another Doodle Dome, I'll come back and review the actual product...you know, once my kid can actually play with it.Updated to 4 stars on 1/2/13:After writing this review I immediately went to the manufacturer's website and complained about the missing lightwand. I was surprised to get an apology the very next day. They shipped us a new light wand right away. Needless to say, I didn't end up returning the Doodle Dome. The only complaint is that they said it would take 3 days for the wand to arrive, but it took a week. That wasn't a big deal though because by then I had put the Doodle Dome away and let our daughter forget about it. So when the lightwand arrived today, it was like getting her Christmas present all over again. I still think that the whole thing shows really poor quality control, but the customer service definitely redeemed the company.Amazon's help with this problem was very disappointing. This is a Prime item and I'm a Prime customer. As much as we all pay yearly for the Prime membership, the exchange should have been done quickly without any problems. Instead I was going to have to return the item and either wait for them to get it and issue a refund before re-buying the toy OR I could shell out the money for a new one while waiting for my refund to be processed.As far as the product itself goes, my daughter has been playing with it almost non-stop since the lightwand arrived. My older daughter has a play tent (not a doodle dome) that is difficult to set up and MUCH less durable, so in comparison this one is definitely preferred. In fact, the two of them have been taking turns in the two tents all day playing house and the doodle dome has shown no signs of wear...the other play tent already has 2 new rips in the side. So I tend to think this will hold up better. Overall, I'm glad I bought the Doodle Dome, I just wish I had checked the box for all the items before wrapping it for Christmas. Lesson learned.

The idea behind this product is great. But the product itself is not.You write on the tent walls using the special glow pen. This means you can do cool art effects, write words, or just play around.Unfortunately, the writing disappears fast and is NOT bright.Like all tents, the tent itself is also a bit fragile. I expect my little one could kick a whole through pretty easily, both by accident or on purpose.I'll have to mess around with this product a bit more to see if I can improve things, but ideally you should be in a dark room when using this product. This will help make the light on the tent walls more evident.Note that the tent DOES fold up. If you're like me though, you will have issues folding it up.Would I buy this product again? No, I would definitely not.

My 6yo son saw this tent on TV and really wanted it for christmas. I was skeptical about getting it but I'm glad I did. It's a little on the small side, and I thought you would be able to draw all over the inside of the tent, but it's actually just one side of the tent. The glow drawings are really bright but there is no way to erase what you have drawn. Luckily the drawings fade after a little while. My son LOVES it, and so does the rest of the family. As great as this tent is, I expect to lose the pen pretty quickly. I'm going to go ahead and search for an extra one right now. I would suggest this to anyone!

ONE PROBLEM I see already: its for two kids, just like the box shows [ironic], Problem: ONE WAND and no way to purchase another wand. I smell a fight brewing and a parent that may not be as happy as I'd hoped with the gift. I'd buy another dome but that just seems dumb and takes up too much room.

The doodle dome only has one small side of the dome you can write on. I was a little disappointed but my daughter who is 5 still had a good time with it. Even though I'm disappointed I would still recommend it.

My grand children bored with it quickly. Not recommended for young rambunctious children. For the price it makes a nice present but do not expect to see it around at the next birthday or Christmas. It is not a long lasting gift.

My son got this as a Christmas present. He loves it! I think the commercial is a little deceiving because there is only one square on one of the walls that you can actually write on and have it glow, but that doesn't seem to bother my son at all. He plays in it practically every day.Overall, I think it is worth it...

This is very small and the writing isn't that big a deal for my grandchildren. I went inside and wrote with the pen and thought, "This is it?" I was definitely underwhelmed and so were the kids.

This is fantastic, I wanted a quiet dark tent for my four year old grandson .Most kids tents are bright and colourful, sensiry ones are so expensive! This is perfect, he loves it and the pen it comes with is just a secondary treat! He uses this tent to play in and also to sit quietly in whrn he wants to relax. He often tskes his light projector in or a few toys. Wonderful private space for him. Thankyou.

Amazing! Purchased for my son with sensory issues and he loves it so much cheaper than a sensory den but better because of the pen you can use, folds away easily into the case and is super light! Highly recommend

Dint really think much of this item. light goes out straight away so cannot make a full picture when drawing. Basically just a dark pop up tent. Kids bored after 5 minutes

Yes I think the tent works well as a sensory tent. I have also shared this on my Autism page . Life of Anna . In which a few more people will be also purchasing for their children .

I use this as a sensory tent for my asd kids it's fantastic not too big but holds cushions, light up toys and battery operated lights. My kids love the pen too they get to express themselves. Already recommended to other mum's
