my dream subwoofer - review and comments
1st ill give some history, 1st-time iv heard the power of Kappa - My buddy in high school got 2x 12ich in his car - it was passed to me after his DUI and I ran them in mine (91 Toyota Celica) for a bit - they completely raddled both cars to death - like no other Subwoofer could- 1st to go is the Rear-view mirror, then the bolts come loose - that caused the windows to raddle so hard it broke the glass of the windows when showing off to friends (true story) "I live on a dirt road and these tore up the car worse"15 years later (current review)i have always wanted one of these - but the $$ to entree into SQ supper-woofer always been a barrier for me, dropping 300$ on a sub... I have seen this on Amazone for 100$ I almost nutted1st one I bought came DOA - (looked like it was damage thew shipping) and I had an issue with the seller to get a refund/replacement.. (i ended up having to contact Amazone that Promply gave me a full refund = that gave me the confidence to use Amazone for all my shopping needs) I ended up getting a cheaper Sub to place into the truck (Kenwood 12ich 250wat) as a Temporary untIl I ordered a new one the difference between the 2 are Night / Day - in no way can Kenwood compete (note I'm using/building the boxes from the Manufacture design / Air-volume for sealed Boxes "1-sqft vs 1.28-sqft"at Max RMS the Kappa is around 2X louder than the Kentwood at 50hz (I'm getting around 600rms until clip/distortion)sound quality - this woofer is A+, it's so good at its job. you won't hear the tump (subwoofer bottoming out) but the Boom will blow you away if you never herd an SQ sub.on test tones I was able to hear a 15hz tone Np .. my horses will respond to this woofer around 10hz (below mine) its roll-off is around 90-120hz <but still gives a good mid-bass all the way to 225(ish) Hz> this will sound good at any volume -the low end (25 Hz - 35 Hz) are well defined and can be disorienting - the back massage is very relaxing with some ear-plugs in - ( most subwoofers cannot play loudly at low HZ's )I have 3 amplifiers (12 channels total in a 94 Dakota x-cab) running SQ system vary Lound and this woofer has enough DB's that I don't max RMS out with only 1 subwoofer (it will over-power my extremely loud sound system) it gets about 80% of its max Rms on Rap/techno music and around 90% on dynamic music (swing /big band/country)power handling, this will work on 200+ RMS and be loud enough - extremely efficient for a subwoofer - its louder than some 800RMS woofers iv had in the pastits selection switch is new to me- I can't tell the difference in sound between 2ohm & 4ohm, - this is the future of subwoofers - much better than a DVC (but I have not figured out a way to change the sector switch without taking out the woofer- "I run 2 terminals to both Voice coils on DVC to switch with-out taking out the woofer")my full current system running as I type this: (the cheapest SQ system I could put together on a budget)2x JBL CLUB6520 6.5coax2X DS18 5x7 gen-x2x Scar-audio XFS 6.5ich Midrange6x various tweeter'srockford fosgate r2sd4-10" (midbass bandpass at 80hz to 125hz)Kenwood - road series 12" single-voice-coil 4-ohm (lower subwoofer)Infinity Kappa 1200 12" (main/high subwoofer)-Epicenter single/bass enhancerBOSS AVA1210 7-Band Pre-Amp/ Car Equalizeraudiopipe XV-6-V15 (8-way bandpass crossover) (i want a DSP for Christmas Santa Claus) 3.5mm to RCA input - Bluetooth adaptor (i run a Microsoft surface Pro2 as my head unit)4ch (power certification slip/paper says 72rms x4 at 4ohm) Rockford Puch 400as4 (priceless 1998 A-class special limited test model never released to public)- a gift from an old guy that reviewed car products for a magazine's) (not an A/B amp)4ch 180wat alpine 445u4ch 2000wat Power Acoustik RZ4-2000D2ch 1000wat pioneer gm-a5702

Very Surprised
UPDATE- I liked it so much, I bought another one. 2 12's in a 1.2 cubic inch per sub sealed enclosure takes up ALOT less space than my one 12" AB XFL in a large ported box. Still tuning the Kappa's with my DSP to get them just right.Original Review -Ordered this and before I got it, I discovered from the specs, that it only has a 2 inch voicecoil. It arrived 1 day early and in perfect condition. Thought I would return it, but I decided to at least test it. I'm so glad I did. 1st, the sound quality is very good in a small sealed enclosure and while it's not earth-shaking in a small sealed enclosure, it rounds out my system nicely. I don't claim to be an expert, but I've been doing my installs in my personal vehicles since the late 80's. In the past 2 1/2 years, I've gone from a Rockford P2, then Alpine Type R, then Rockford P3, to an American Bass XFL, to now this Infinity. The American Bass was excellent at Eyeball rattling (no joke) in a large ported enclosure. Don't get me wrong-I love that sub, but it's an SPL sub. If that's what you're after, get that one. The Rockfords are work horses and were good to me. The Alpine died in less than a year on the same amp and gain that the P3 was on (and I abused the P3 a hell of alot more because I knew I was getting the American Bass soon).Anyway, back to the Infinity - I tried the P3 in the same enclosure that the Infinity is in now to compare. Right away, the Infinity shows its higher efficiency by being louder. It's also more musical and hits alot lower and its not even broken in yet. I'm still in shock over how good this sub sounds. Obviously longevity will be the question, but time will tell. Oh, and this sub is BEAUTIFUL! There are some cons- I'm not a fan of the push terminals. I also don't like the plastic cover around the magnet. While it looks very nice, no one will see it when installed and I don't like it when manufacturers hide the magnet. They usually do it to hide the size. All I can say is Infinity must of used magic because if you look at the specs compared to the others I mentioned, it has the smallest voicecoil, the least xmax, and with the exception of the P2, the lowest power handling, but I sounds better (obviously not as loud as the XFL). If you want a nice SQ sub for a small sealed enclosure for a steal of a price, this is the one. I have this in the back of a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I'm seriously thinking of getting another one. I'll update if there's a problem with longevity. I know the review is long, but I do it because not everyone can listen to these things in person. Oh, and I listen to everything (except Country, no offense) spanning 5 decades, though I prefer bass heavy tracks. Hope this review helps.

High quality, beautiful, yes, yes, yes.
Have not powered it yet, got the first one of two in the mail. Pulled it out of the box and it just looks and feels like a $300 subwoofer. I cannot believe I got this thing for $100 and if it performs close to my original infinity kappa perfect 12.1 subs I will very impressed. I inherited a Clarion Clarus Profile 800 amp, which will be slightly underpowering them, but most definitely better power output than my power acoustik amp (it serves it's purpose). Utilizing box calculators for a ported flat good response curve, will compare results with Infinity's recommended enclosure. Will report back after hearing them.I am quite sure this is an absolute STEAL at $100.5-25-19Update:Wow, I wanted it tuned to 24hz at about 3 cubic ft per chamber, had to settle for ~29hz 2.2 ft each after vent and driver displacement. I made the box utilizing the spec sheet and winisd program, had to estimate driver displacement as I cant find that particular spec.First try fired them up :They get low, in this box have a fairly flat bass response, and wow do they sound good on the last one of kappa k1000 amp that I snagged for $250 off Amazon. I need an alternator, have to bring rpm up to 1200 on stock 98 k1500 alt, not sure the amp output. But yea they hit all the notes very nicely in this setup and haven't smelled any coil burn off of the true 1000+ rms I've fed em with this equally exquisite amp. Seriously ? $100? You're out of your mind not to at least buy 1 or 2 for storage at least. These will make fantastic home theater sound. Get them just in case at this price.
